Oh, I addressed this on the wrong list. 

Yes, Richard had a great idea. I moved Pitch from 50 to 70%, and I can hear 
better, when on phone conversation.

Ultimately, though, if that doesn't work, the too-loudness problem is probably 
third-party at the other end of the phone line.
