RE: some audio book questions

You can purchase them either on the Audible site or Amazon (I would suggest
Audible). Use the Audbile app to sign in and download the book to play it.

Audible was purchased by Amazon so buying audio books through them is really
buying from Amazon/Audible. You will need the iOS Audible app or the Android

Another site for MP3 audio books is:

Hearing-Aids

2015-06-17 Thread Jeff Bishop
Hello Everyone,

I have been given two choices for hearing-aids, the Starkey Halo and the
Resound product line. I have Googled and read a number of posts on this subject
from the list but thought I would start up this conversation again to see what
people are thinking? Here are my questions:

* Do all features work (triple-click-home for hearing-aid functionality
along with VoiceOver).

* * How is the sound quality (phone, music, stereo, etc.)?

* * Any major bugs in either product at this point?

Thanks so much for any help you can provide.

Jeff

RE: Missing emails from exchange account

Yes, go into the Settings app and into Mail settings. In there there are
settings on how many days or weeks mail is shown for each account. You probably
are only seeing 3 days of mail. Give that a try and let me know if that
resolves your issue.

The reason this is there is to limit your data usage while mobile.

Dear all. My iphone announces that I have 6 unread emails in my inbox but I can
find only two in all. Has anyone else experienced it? This started happening to
me after I set up my microsoft exchange account with outlook on a new laptop. I
lost all my old messages from iphone. I have set up my phone to sync messages
for a week but I am not able to find any message except for newly arrived ones.
I know that the messages are still on the server and have not been deleted. I
can't think any reason for my phone not being able to download them.
Any thoughts?

Rhanks for your suggestions.

I have lost VO only once by using this reset, and that was because I got
distracted and ended up holding it for about twenty seconds. I think there
is a timing limit. However, with both the Ipad 3 and the iPhone 5, VO can be
brought back with the tripple-click of the home key. I got an iPad 3 and out
of the box the tripple-click worked. I then tried it with the iPhone 5 and
this was also the case. No longer is sighted help or a computer connection
necessary. This seems to now be built in by default. I like it!

RE: Four Email Questions

Answers in context of your questions:

1. My VoiceOver is not reading preview lines as I scroll through
e-mail messages. Yet, under Preview I have the choice for 2 lines
selected I have Hints enabled and am holding my finger on the message long
enough to hear the hint, slide up or down to select the custom action.

The preview only works when you flick left or right toa message and then
wait, without touching the screen.

2. Just below I-Clouds there is a button that is my e-mail address. I
click it and then I find choices like, Mail, Calendars, notes, archived
messages. Each has a choice of off or on. Anyone know what these mean?

That is to sync those items with your Email account.

 3. Below these there is a heading that says something like,

phase deleted message in your All Mail folder. I can't quite tell what the
first word is of this sentence is and I don't know what it means.

That word is Save.

When you go beyond your last account when in the inboxes, you will seeing a
heading called Account then each account is listed again. When you open
one of those, you have extra folders like drafts, sent, etc. I am not sure,
but my messages end up in the trash folder tied to each specific account. I
never deal with the all mail.

4. If one chooses the manual setting under Fetch New Data, , how does
one then fetch messages manually if there is no longer a Refresh button in
e-mail?

It seems to refresh itself. I have noticed several times with this list
that I'll be reading through messages, deleting some, and new messages will
arrive without me leaving and coming back in.

I too have mine on Manual, but it seems to only fetch messages when that
account is open. I can't tell if it is refreshing constantly, or exactly
how it is doing it, but whatever it does, it is working and not fetching
messages when Mail is not open.

HTH,

Richard

 Google Latitude is a location-aware
mobile app developed by Google as a successor to its earlier SMS-based
 service Dodgeball.
Latitude allows a mobile phone user to allow certain people to view
their current location. Via their own Google Account, the user's cell
phone location is mapped on Google Maps.
The user can control the accuracy and details of what each of the
other users can see - an exact location can be allowed, or it can be
limited to identifying the city only. For privacy, it can also be
turned off by the user, or a location can be manually entered. Users
have to explicitly opt in to Latitude, and may only see the location
of those friends who have decided to share their location with them.

cross platform Find My Friends like app that is accessible ...

2012-08-23 Thread Jeff Bishop
Hello,

Now that I have family members both on Android and iPhone devices I am
looking for a cross platform solution to the Find My Friends app that is
accessible. I tried a number of them over a year ago but wondering if
anything has changed or has become accessible during this time period? Does
anyone have any suggestions in this area?

Jeff Bishop

RE: NFB Newsline app available in the app store for iPhone, iTouch and iPad

2012-06-05 Thread Jeff Bishop
No, you must register for one on the web site:

http://www.nfbnewsline.org

or through your NLS library as I understand it.

If you don't have a news line account, can you set one up through this app?

 Hi,
Thanks for the tip. I tried navigation by heading and it works great,
but instead of swiping right I did a two-finger swipe down to start
reading at the heading that I selected. Still have a lot of exploring
to do but it's a nice app; I like what I see so far.

Hi, I got the appa nd used it for a bit. It has a nice layout and if
you want to quickly go from article to article set your rotor to move
by headings. Then when you get to one you want to read, swipe once to
the right and it will be read out. Very nicely done for 1.0 version.

 Hello list,

Just thought I'd drop this bit of news since I haven't seen it posted
yet. I got a Google alert a short while ago regarding NFB newsline
and it mentioned that there was now an app for the Newsline service
for the various i-devices and sure enough, I went to the app store
and did a search using the words nfb newsline and it was the first
result. I'm in the process of downloading it now. Reading the breif
description, it doesnt' say much other than what Newsline is and so
on and that the app can only be installed on five devices. I haven't
yet, but I'm sure those of us who already use this service are going
to have to punch in our six digit code we use to log into the website.

In any event, I thought I'd pass this along for anyone else who may
want to give the app a spin and put it through its paces and see how
well or not it might work for them.

Hi. I'm not sure if this has been mentioned on this list before and i invite
you to crosspost this to any other lists you might think appropriate.
The clearcheckbook web site and iPhone app is very accessible. You can enter
transactions and can even see a running balance if you have their premium
service for $42 per year.
There are lots of options including setting recurring transactions and
reminders and running reports.
This is quite a nice program for those of us who need an accessible
checkbook program and the iPhone app just makes it better.
