Dragon Realms

2015-01-10 Thread Mike Maslo
Hi everyone, does anyone know where I can get the dragon realms scripts from? I
used to have them but lost a hard drive or three and have not played in a
while. I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get them from?

If so, please could you send them to me via drop box or drive?

Thanks so much in advance.

 Subject: Nice News App

 Hi All,
My Media Specialist told me I should take a look at an app called flipboard
all one word. It is a news app that lets you choose the categories of news
you want then presents you with the headlines. If you find one you want to
read just double tap on it and it opens and can be read with VO. Flipboard
is quite accessible. All the buttons work. There is also a guide that I
haven’t played with yet. Three finger swipe to move down a page works but
the sound we are used to isn’t there but the page does advance. There are
buttons at the top of the screen and the bottom of the screen. I have to
play with it a lot more but it looks promising. There is a sign in but you
 don’t need it.
I use the two finger swipe down to read an entire article.

 Have fun –Steve
 P.S. Did I mention it’s free?

How is this in apple's new app? any chance of entering stops directly?

We all have opinions. Who is right and who is wrong? No such thing! If you feel
the way you do and in a major minority it is a opinion and I respect it.

I find it reprehensible that companies are trying to do patch work
accessibility. I would agree if the technology was not out there but it is. Not
only that but come out with half of there products usable while the others are
nut. To me again why pretend? Anyway I have made my opinion known like many

talking about Amazon here, which has done somethings to address
accessibility on their web site and in their products.

 I also don't feel that 3rd party screen readers are a joke. I wouldn't
have been employed for the last 20 plus years (long before Apple had
their own screen reader) if it hadn't been for 3rd party screen readers.
I know I'm in the minority on this list, but I think there's a certain
amount of danger when the OS, screen reader and applications all come
from the same company. It also isn't clear to me that you save much
money buying an Apple product where the screen reader is built in versus
another product where you can acquire a 3rd party screen reader. Both of
these issues have been debated before, and I've made my opinions felt in
those debates. Like I said, I'm sure I'm in the minority on those
points, and I don't think there's any reason to redebate them now.

The fact that anyone has to pay to make a phone or any piece of equipment's

Hi, the best way I have found to do this is by first making sure your typing
is set to standard instead of touch. This means that when you tap on a
letter, it behaves just like any other button or control on the iPhone. This
means that you have to double-tap after first selecting the letter. Once you
have it set this way, you can double-tap and hold on the letter you want, the
letter A for example, then as you hold on the screen, drag it left or right
and you will hear the various accented letters. Just release your finger when
you get to the one you want and it will be entered.

On a side note, since I don't care for standard typing, I prefer the touch
typing, what I tend to do is use DDragon dictation. I can set that to
Spanish, and then I can speak whatever I want. I have to use Dragon because
Siri doesn't currently understand Spanish. I think you have a 3GS, so Siri is
 not an issue anyway.

 Good luck.

For example, I would term the downcast app as both accessible and usable. Yet
the Netflix app is just usable to me while not being very accessible. This is
because I have to do things in a certain way in Netflix app to get what I
want and sometimes that's not very convenient. The reason the things have to
be done are due to their lack of accessibility features.

Now an app like Google Places isn't either accessible or usable to me. This
is because it shows unlabeled buttons in many areas and sometimes the labels
work and sometimes they do not. This is how it was last year when I tried it
out anyway. If things have changed I can revisit the app and see what's up
with it. However when all I hear is button button button button for things I
want to do, it doesn't sound like it's very usable or accessible to me.

Lastly, an app like MotionX GPS Drive is considered accessible, but I don't
find it very useful. Whether it's because of my mode of thinking or because
I'm used to Navigon I don't know. I just can't get myself to like it. I gave
it a fair try during the free trial of the voice guidance and found it to be
clunky at best when trying to find a destination or to cancel a route or to
do other things which I find easy with Navigon. The only thing it had going
for it is that it loaded faster than Navigon.

So, there's my usable cents on accessibility.

understand it, the Sign in process can work without disabling
VoiceOver. Essentially, the app is divided in to columns, and the
standard flicking left and right gesture does not work. However, if
you touch the screen in the appropriate place, VoiceOver is able to
give the info to you. But to get to the other column on the screen,
you have to tap something on the right side of it, and then tap the
left side to get back to that series of columns. I'll have to play
around with this when I get the time, but as I understand it, this is
 how it can be done.

the Android phone and making generalizations without any facts to back their
statements up. There's plenty of totally valid and factual reasons why an
iPhone is the right choice for many people. there's no reason to spread dated
and incorrect information about any other product.

My reference to significant improvements had to do with the changes from
Gingerbread to Ice Cream Sandwich to Jellybean, since many of the statements
on the list had to do with the state of Talk Back in Gingerbread. I'm just
saying that that information is dated and the improvements since then have
been significant. I don't think accessibility in Gingerbread was almost
 non-existent, but that's a judgement call.

I hear what you're saying about the set up process for a blind user on the
Samsung Galaxy S3, but the day I brought my iPhone home, I spent 4 hours
trying to get my Apple ID in the App Store. I eventually just gave up and
tried again the next day. I know you said the podcast author was familiar
with the iPhone, but picking up a new touch screen device is going to take
some time to get used to. I'll also point out that the Samsung Galaxy S3
shipped with Ice Cream Sandwich and I know there were improvements in
Jellybean in the area of typing.

It's not all that hard to improve something significantly which was almost
non-existent before. I am interested in technology of any kind and recently
listened to a very detailed 2-part german Podcast by somebody who is a very
experienced tech user about Talkback on a I think Samsung Galaxy S3
top-of-line phone. This person also has an iPhone and he actually had to
stop the Podcast and restart it because the gesture which was supposed to
activate Talkback during setup did not work. He finally did get it going and
then continued to setup the phone and boy was it painful to listen to his
attempts to do the simplest things. At one point he had to enter his name on
a virtual keyboard and it literally took him 5 or 6 minutes in the Podcast
before he managed to enter his first and last name, as I said, it was simply
painful and I was sitting there thinking why somebody would put him or
herself through such frustration if you can get an iPhone, you triple click
the home key and that's it. When I got my iPhone 4S I set it up myself in
the store with Voiceover and the entire process took me about as long as
what it took him to enter his name. I am not exaggerating, but the entire
first part of the Podcast which was over an hour was about him getting past
the few start screens and that is not counting the time where he paused the
Podcast to even get Talkback to initialize. They may have come a ways, but
they have a very very long road ahead before they get even close to the
iPhone's accessibility and ease of use and as I said in my earlier message,
I don't think they will ever get there.

 Sieghard

The reason I say that is because I still have unlimited data, which is a

I may not be totally correct on this, but I think that pretty much any
IPhone you get, no matter the carrier, should be about the same. This of
course was a bit different with the older devices we are used to, nokias and
alike, and even some of the newer droid devices to. One thing of note I've
herd people mention though, are the differences between the data plans
offered through sprint, verison and att. Not sure if any are really
considered truly unlimited, but sprint and verison apparently have an upper
hand on us att users. One other thing that may become an issue with the
IPhone 5, if it really is 4g compatible, will be how the 4g works here on
ATt. I really honestly don't know much about 4g or what they use so maybe
 it'll work perfectly.
 Take care.

One thing you need to know is that the keyboard in Fleksey is higher on the
screen than the regular one. This may be causing a problem as your tactile
protector if it has locater dots isn't in line with the keyboard in Fleksey.

Hi all. I was away and got home and downloaded fleksy. I did listen to the
podcast and get the general concept of how it works. The issue I'm having
is spacial relationships I can understand and know how to type on the
regular keyboard. Anyone have any tips for getting this down? I do have the
tactile screen protector on my phone and will play with this more as it
really is a neat app. Any tips would be appreciated.

RE: another question re: adding words to fleksys dictionary.

2012-07-17 Thread Mike Maslo
Hi not a problem at all.

Ok you would type out the word letter by letter. You would put your finger
and look for the correct letter. Type if out as if you were using the
regular keyboard. After you have typed out the word flick to the right and
then flick up.

I hope that makes sense. If not repost and I will try to do a better job in
the explanation.

Neil stated that he would have no problem with this as long as there is an
option to disable the promo sentence at the end and I agree since I don't
think I should have to manually erase it in every email I write especially
since for an app this one is definitely not on the cheap side. As for the
link, this is already an option since filling in the phone number and email
fields in the Fleksy settings has only one purpose as far as I can tell and
that is to enable having that link there, so since I don't want it, I just
don't put in that information. All we need now is a checkbox or an On/Off
button for Include Typed by Fleksy signature.

I use my thumbs like those kids who are always texting, with Fleksy. I let

I can type almost as fast as I can on my pc, although, I should say that I

This app really works well, and i am getting very fast at selecting the

Disappointed but not surprised that Apple won't let this work the way it

the message Ap I have to return to it or, which is usually the case,
struggle with the phone keyboard and get three more responses before I can

If I could get the Refreshabraille to actually work it might be easier but

Fleksy is my birthday present to myself, more of a donation to keep the

 Hi Jessica,

It's a program that allows you to type letters without being
absolutely precise. After you type what you think the letters of a
word are, Fleksy uses what I like to call Word Prediction. What this
means is that when you complete the word you are typing, a swipe to
the right inserts the word followed by a space character and it is
verbalized by Fleksy. If the word is correct, you continue typing the
next word. If the word is not correct, you can swipe up and I believe
down to hopefully find the word you want and it will be entered. It
is important to note that when you begin typing, VoiceOver must be
unloaded, as speech is generated by Fleksy. I also downloaded the app and
 look forward to learning it.

If the word is correct, you continue typing
the next word. If the word is not correct, you can swipe up and I
believe down to hopefully find the word you want and it will be
entered. It is important to note that when you begin typing,
VoiceOver must be unloaded, as speech is generated by Fleksy. I also
downloaded the app and look forward to learning it.

Hello. You might want to read over some of the recent jailbreak messages in
the last couple of weeks because there was a thread where people posted a
lot of why they like to jailbreak their phone. The messages can be found
from the list archives, and the list archive Web address is found at the end
of each message posted here. However to answer your question, one of the
reasons I like to jailbreak is because I get access to a lot more tweaks and
features to the iPhone that Apple normally doesn't allow you to do. For
example, with a jailbroken iPhone I can integrate my Google voice number a
lot more closely with the iPhone. I do not have to use a separate app to
make phone calls.Another advantage is that I can use a schedule profile
program so that my phone will automatically go into silent mode at a
specified time. I can make it turn on or off Wi-Fi and or Bluetooth at
specified times. I can change the theme of my phone to make it look like or
sound like a Star Trek computer or a windows XP computer. I can make the
music automatically stop playing when I disconnect the headphones and
automatically resume playing when I connect the headphones. I can skip
unlimited amount of times in the Pandora music player. And lastly, one of
the most recent important ones, I can add and remove music from the iPhone
without ever having to use iTunes. I can simply copy the music over as if my
 iPhone was a USB stick.

Next time, try playing music after each installation of something from

Also (and I'm sure you've tried this), once the music's playing and even if
you don't hear it, hit the volume up button on the side of the phone

I've seen apps turn either the Voiceover or Playback volume down randomly

What if you elect to upgrade your phone and subsequently not jailbreak the

A few ways to backup up Cydia have been mentioned here, but the answer
is that you don't lose your apps or pay for them again. You simply
login to cydia, grab your backup program and restore everything or use

Remove the app and call it a day

 Hi,

Nowhere in the description on the app store did he indicate that there was
limited functionality with in app purchases to enable additional
functionality. It is my own policy not to use apps that adhere to this model.
Personally I think it's a form of extortion and I don't play in that sandbox.
Set a price for full functionality up front and let me decide if I am willing
to pay that price. That is my point.

Now on to your point. I reviewed the description in the app store when I
purchased the app. Nowhere did it indicate that I was going to eventually
have to pay something for what I was downloading. Now after 30 days he posts
to this list that this would be happening, and the only reason he posted was
because there was a bug in the app that didn't give you the correct price.
Had there not been a bug I would have attempted to post something and then
been prompted with a popup saying that this functionality no longer worked
and if I wanted to use this functionality I would have to pay $1.99 for it.
In my book this is extortion. Granted you are thinking that I am a dick and
it's only 2 dollars so shut the hell up. But like I said before, had he
charged me 2 dollars up front I would not be offended, insulted and
disgusted. I think that our society has left principles behind, but I am old
enough to have been raised by a generation that valued them and I intend to
hold to mine. You and everyone do what you feel you must, me I deleted the
app and am informing Apple of this behavior. If it meets there criteria then
so be it. Don't think for a second that I would not and have not done this to
other developers. If not for our voices then how can they know when there is
 a problem.

Ben, should you decide to make a limited free version and a paid full
featured version available on the app store I would be glad to purchase it. I
really do like the app and wish you well.

Also, you are not being forced to pay any money if you just want to read

RE: Voicebook VO Notice

Keith:

Good job so drop the subject. No one had a gun to your head forcing you to
buy anything.

The next time something is free we will make sure it is totally free for
you. We will ensure that everything you buy s free also.

My guess is if it would have been $1.99 up front you would have complained
about the fact that it did not have all the features you wanted and then
demanded a refund.

Some time you can not make everyone happy. I leanred that while working and
I see it is true here too.

I run both Mac and PC through the same monitor using a VGA A B switch.
I am currently on a PC with Zoom Text, which never fails to disappoint me.
As said above, there is a learning curve, it does not seem as intuitive as

 Hi Paul,
I downloaded this app. The sound you are hearing is a scroll of
advertisements across the top of the screen. Every time the ad changes you
will hear that three tone sound.

If you use the side switch to mute the iPhone you can use most of this app.
Please be aware that not every thing is accessible with voice overbut
 about 90% is.
 Hope this helps,

What are our alternatives here? Use inadequate, hard to use or
inaccessible applications while we're working with Facebook to make
their sites and apps more accessible?

I'm not a big fan of the phrase blind ghetto when referring to devices
and applications for the blind. I wouldn't have been employed and
independent for the last 30 years without tools like the Braille 'n'

Furthermore, I think these devices, and the experiences blind people
have with them, do as much to promote accessibility in mainstream
products as their existence might seem to hinder.

Bottom line for me, is that I'm going to use all of the tools available
