Re: Uber eats problem you might wish to contact them about

2024-05-10 Thread Renee Patete
I'm glad to see that someone else had this issue. I have seen it as well, and
also the problem of the app requiring a photo to prove that there was an issue
with an order. And I'm in New Zealand, so we don't even have a support number
we can call! So thank you for contacting them on all of our behalf!

I'd suggest putting a bell in it, one that is big enough that it won't fall
out. And perhaps you could attach a piece of string to them or something so you

Re: Recordings

2023-09-28 Thread Renee Patete
Hi Steve,You can do a screen recording. Go to the Control Center part of the settings app, and make sure screen recording is inserted in your control center. Then from anywhere, go to the control center and press on the screen recording button (usually located towards the end of the screen). Do the same to stop recording, or lock your phone screen, which also stops recording. This creates a video of your phone screen, including all sound. You can find this video in your photo library. If you want, you can also use an app like AudioConverter to create an audio file of the video you recorded, or record the audio to an external device in real-time.Hope this helps!Kind regards,Renee PateteOn 29/09/2023, at 10:06, Steve Cook wrote:Hi All,  When using an app, I would like to record what VO is announcing as I am moving around the screen. Thank you for sharing. I'm not from the US, I'm from New Zealand, and our

RE: Re: Notifications in iOS 17 are too quiet, and there's nothing you can do about it

2023-09-20 Thread Renee Patete
Setting ringtones as text tones and vice versa has been available in iOS for as
far back as I can remember. They probably just changed it so users would find
it easier to find the right tones, but like someone else in this thread said,
it causes issues with iTunes tones which may be classified as "ringtones" but
may in fact be alert tones. I have several such tones, and fortunately those
that were assigned to contacts or other notifications have stayed the same
after the update, as long as I don't change them.

Sorry.
I totally forgot about those with hearing aids.
I totally agree that Apple should let the customer choose notification
sounds that suit their needs.

Re: A suggestion to Apple

2022-07-10 Thread Renee Patete
Yes that's a good idea, although I'm not sure what constitutes "accidentally".
If you're not sure of the mute state of your phone couldn't you just check the
position of the silent switch? Or do you mean something else? I'm not
complaining or being rude, just clarifying because I'm curious.

Re: Turning off Apple Watch Voice Over sounds

2021-10-27 Thread Renee Patete
The good thing is that now you can turn off speech. I am so glad that I can do
that now, because I can make my watch much quieter when I'm out! I don't often
need it on if I'm just using taptic time anyway.

Re: Turning off Apple Watch Voice Over sounds

2021-10-25 Thread Renee Patete
I believe what is meant are the sounds heard when navigating through items,
selecting them, etc. (as opposed to speech or any other notification or system
sounds). I hope this helps to clarify things.

Re: Turning off Apple Watch Voice Over sounds

2021-10-25 Thread Renee Patete
Hi, I’ve been wondering the same thing to, since I recently got a new Apple
Watch. I can only get near silence on it, by silencing the speech, but can’t
get complete silence like sighted people can get. I hope that they Will change
this in the future.

Re: facetime audio puzzle

2021-10-15 Thread Renee Patete
Hi,
I had noticed the same thing. My usual solution is to just tap on the screen
until something that is not the call window appears. This usually works well.
The problem seems to happen with the window not disappearing only when
navigating sequentially.
Hope this is helpful.
Renee

Re: Text editing with braille displays

Sorry I believe I sent my last reply to the wrong address by mistake.
I have turned off automatic translation but still hhaving this repeating letter
problem. It seems to not be happening in Mail though - I've tried twice to
create examples of the issue here but it refuses to do it for me.
Perhaps it's a problem with this display.

Re: Text editing with braille displays

2021-10-12 Thread Renee Patete
I'm using the Unified English Braille code, the standard code in my country
since 2004. I also have automatic translation on. However, it isn't expanding
to its print equivalent, but just repeating letters from the other words. I'll
try turning it off anyway.

Text editing with braille displays

2021-10-12 Thread Renee Patete
Hi everyone,
I have been experiencing issues with text editing with my braille display and
my iPhone since iOS 15 came out. If I have made a mistake in text and go back
to change it, such as to change a letter or add some words, my phone and
braille display will often add additional repeated letters and sometimes
continue to do this when I try to delete them. Has anyone been experiencing
this and does anyone know how to get around it? As far as I know, editing
without a braille display is fine, and sighted people are not experiencing this.
Thank you in advance for your advice.
Renee

Re: Considering the new Apple Watch

2021-10-12 Thread Renee Patete
Hi,
I haven't been told of any specific issues, just something about the screen
reader itself (not the voices) being "broken". I think this may have been in
relation to series 6, so I'd just like to see if blind users are still using
the Apple Watch with the screen reader running in the present day, to confirm
that it will be OK.
I have also heard that there are new hand gestures with the watch in OS 8. Do
these work OK with the voice running?

Sorry everyone, I didn't realise that the watch was being released on 15
October all over the world. I live in the Southern Hemisphere so thought that
people in the US and elsewhere might have been able to get it first. My
apologies for the misunderstanding.

Considering the new Apple Watch

2021-10-11 Thread Renee Patete
Hi readers,
I am a new member here, so I hope this email goes to the right place.
The Apple Watch series 7 arrives in my country this week, and I am considering
getting one to replace my now broken series 4. However, I have heard somewhere
that the screen reader may no longer be very good on the new watches. Can
anyone who has had experience with the new one please let me know whether it is
still as accessible as it used to be? I have no remaining vision, so need a
completely reliable screen reader.
Thank you in advance,
Renee
