I would like to be able to see what is available on demand, and maybe watch

What do you all think?

Thank you,

I just had a quick question for anyone who may be able to answer it. I just
downloaded vocalizer expressive for my screen reader last night. When I
listened to both Tom and Samantha who I thought we're going to be the new
voices for Siri and iOS 7 what I was hearing did not seem to match what I
heard from Siri during the Apple keynote from yesterday or the WWDC event in

June. Now, when I say Samantha, I mean the improved female voice. To me it
sounds like an improved version of Samantha but the Samantha that I have a
vocalizer expensive sounds just the same as before. And Tom doesn't match
the mail voice either. So I just wondered And sorry that was supposed to say

the Samantha that is in vocalizer expressive. Also, again, the mail voice
shown during the presentation from Apple does not match Tom's voice either.
So I'm confused I don't understand what's going on. Is Apple not using the
vocalizer expressive voices anymore? Thanks a lot

Well, I hate to say it, but I don't find this response patronizing. I
disagree with the policy, but I don't find these responses unprofessional.
This person is probably someone on the main lines of their customer service
who is only authorized to tell you what they were taught in training.

A better customer service approach would have been for them to indicate that
they had reviewed your purchasing records and were going to kick the request
up to a supervisor. Still, this doesn't render their responses patronizing
or unsympathetic.

I'm sure lots of people request refunds for all kinds of reasons, not that
an inaccessible app we can't use at all through no fault of our own isn't a
valid reason. I don't purchase an app unless I see positive reviews of it
up on Applevis.com or this list simply because I don't want to waste money
and deal with this type of frustration.

I think something like a targeted campaign stating our concerns and why The
Apple Store should adopt a policy wherein we should be entitled to refunds
in situations where we purchase inaccessible apps is going to get a better
result.

Yes, below are three quotes from the messages that I have exchanged about
this, you'll see very clearly what they have to say about it…

--Apple iTunes App Store Support responses--

I appreciate your feedback and I understand your frustration.

Every app gets reviewed by Apple, but you also have as user the chance to
leave your own opinion about the products offered on the App Store, writing
a review to the mentioned app.

You can also submit your feedback about the accessibility feature of apps
and how this should be clearly indicated in the app description.
I encourage you therefore to use the iTunes Feedback page to submit your
comments:
http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html.;

We have checked this a second time again. We do understand that it is
frustrating to have paid for an application that you won't be able to use,
but I need to remind you that all sales on the iTunes Store are final.

I just want also to remind you that the App Store is just a commercial
platform, we do not create most of the apps that are sold on the Store so we
are unable to guarantee their voice over compatibility. You may wish to
contact the developer prior to purchasing an app in the future to find out
if they have this feature.

--end--

As you can see, they are very clearly not budging.

If you know where the sim card is located in the device, look for a tiny
little whole on one side of it. Use something tiny such as an unwould paper

use a bit of pressure when using the paper clip in order to get the sim card

http://appleinsider.com/articles/13/03/12/apple-to-diversify-manufacturers-for-iphone-5s-and-low-cost-iphone
where it talks about Apple's manufacturing partners producing low cost
iPhones, namely the 4, 4S and upcoming 5C. Also, don't forget the global
picture where the iPhone 4S is still a very popular phone.

I think it's very safe to assume that the 4S will go away because of what
you said about the 5C and the 30 Pin connector. Except for the 5C having a
4
inch display and Lightning connector it is much more like the 4S than the
5

is since it is rumored to have the a5 processor.

I think it is more than conceivable that there will only be a couple of
versions of the 5C and the new 5S in 32 Gb, 64 Gb and 128 Gb. Of course

I don't think the question is what's going away. Obviously there will
still

be a lot of iPhone 4, 4S and 5 out there. The question is what will Apple
still be manufacturing and selling as new iPhones. Googling around reveals
that there's a lot of speculation out there, and we won't know for sure
until Tuesday.

One rumor is that the 4S will be the entry level model, with it's smaller
screen, the 5C will be the midrange model and the 5S will be the high end
model. In this scenario, the iPhone 5 would stop being manufactured since
the 5C is so similar except for the plastic body.
Given that the 4S still has the 30 pin connector though, it may be the
phone

that's discontinued.

The other scenario is that the 5C becomes the low end model, the 5 is the
midrange model and the 5S is the new high end model. In this scenario,
Apple

would stop manufacturing and selling the 4S.

Subject: Apple Accessibility about screen curtain and battery, was: battery
draining

Hello Listers,

As has been pointed out before, the screen curtain does not help extend
battery life. I wrote to Apple Accessibility and ask for an official
statement regarding screen curtain and brightness and below is the reply:

From: Apple Accessibility [mailto:accessibil...@apple.com]
Sent: Tuesday, September 10, 2013 7:45 AM
To: siegh...@live.ca
Subject: [415306] Screen curtain and battery draining

Hello, Sieghard.

Dimming the screen is the correct means of regulating backlight power
consumption for best battery life between charges. Officially:

[turning] screen curtain 'on' has no effect on battery. Dimming the screen
does effect the battery.

The curtain function is a means to obscure screen content quickly, hence the
three-finger triple-tap activates it.

Please feel welcome to share this information with your discussion group.

Regards
Apple Accessibility

Hi, it sounds like you are deleting the contact details rather than the
actual contact entry. So, you must delete the actual contact entry and
that will take all the details with it. Find the contact you want, double
tap edit, now swipe down to the very last field. A single tap with 4
fingers on the lower part of the screen will take you there, now swipe
left a couple of times and then swipe right to the end and the delete
button should be there. Double tap that and the entire entry will be gone
and you will be placed on your list of contacts with that one gone.

Hope this helps.

I know this list is for discussion of apps, but is it also for arguing
about apps? Whether one decides it is to expensive, or works well or not is
immaterial, the important thing is that it is out there and available,
isn't it?

You are incorrect assuming that I bought a subscription. I

my phone. By the way, the apps you refer to are a one time fee. I've had
my Navigon for 2 years and have only paid the cost of the app. I works
just fine. A few bucks every now and then to upgrade the maps is
reasonable, but certainly the price they want for a yearly sub is
highway robbery. I just don't have that kind of money anyway, they
wouldn't get it if I did and there are other good alternatives.
Actually, I'll stay with my Breeze and support a company that is not
blatantly greedy. I'm glad you find the app to be a good one because I
would hate for someone to spend that kind of money and not like it.

Let me ask you one question: If you feel this way, why did you
even download
and buy the one-year subscription to start with? It's not like
 Sendero

 forced you to do so.

You could go and pay $59 for Navigon North America, then $15 or
whatever it
is for BlindSquare for a total of $75 and have a workable solution
 even

though it wouldn't be as good as the Seeing Eye app. This
totally reminds me
about the uproar some people felt when Sendero dared to charge
$5 for their
LookAround app a few years ago, the outrage some people felt then I
 think

was downright ridiculous and while $70 is more than $5, like I
said, don't
buy it if you don't want it.

I think it's a disgrace and a total rip off. Not even a trial?
Even so, it's
too expensive and nothing but outright greediness. I've already
written this
as a rating for the app, adding that it's nothing less than a
case of total
greed, greed, greed, taking advantage of blind people and
stealing money out
of their pockets. Sixty-nine bucks a year, that is outrageous!
What a cocky
attitude for Sendero to adopt. who do they think they are
anyway? I couldn't
even rate it zero stars and I begrudgingly gave them one just to
 speak my

 mind.

does work for sending and receiving spoken messages.

hellow,
normally voxer will say a number after the unread messages. Zellow is ok,
althought not necessarily better, since you've got to wait for people to
accept your contact. I like the fact that you can talk on public channels
though. To delete messages from voxer, double tap and hold your finger on
a

message, and swipe to the right. Take your finger off and look for confirm
delete whatever that message is. Once you delete messages you've read you
won't have so many to look through to find teh unread ones.
Hope that helps,
Harmony.

Hello listers,

I noticed a walkie talkie app called Zello is VO accessible. I've been

and why. I did not like voxer because I could not get it to play my
unread messages without flicking through a long list of previous
messages,

then I could not figure out which ones were read and unread until I
listened to the messages. In short, I found voxer very cumbersome.
Maybe

that has changed with updates to the Voxer app? My main complaint to
heytell is that sometimes it works inconsistently.

So, I'm asking for a comparison. I know I can just download and try it.
However, then I would have to get my friends and family to download it to
see if they like it. So, I thought I'd get a little info first.

Thanks so very much,
