Figured it out. The problem was I was double tapping into the edit field 
thinking that it would activate. If you do that, the portion of the screen that 
allows you to swipe to your birth here disappears. Thanks.

I am experiencing similar, though the keyboard does enter the text. I find the 
letters I want and enter them. VO repeats different letters, but the letters I 
actually chose were entered. However, it is somewhat risky to proceed since the 
field appears blank and you cannot confirm the text you have entered.

Someone asked me to do a Venmo transaction for them since they don’t use it.

Looks like with Voice over, iOS 17.2.1, and Venmo version 10.32.07 you cannot 
type in a venmo user in the search field with VO running. Voiceover speaks and 
enters in letters and symbols that you are not typing.

You use to be able to dictate in the search field, but if you try, the 
information is blank in the search field.

store.

I am finding this has the best high speed charging for all three devices. 
However, it is a bit bulky for travel, so keep that in mind. It is about the 
size of a Rubik’s cube. I have one of the older Belkin 3-in-1 models which 
charges things disappointingly slow. I encourage you to shop around for one 
that does high speed charging like this cube. Let me know if you have questions 
about the Anker cube.\

Right now, I’m noticing that Belkin, Anker and Mophie seem to be the top 
brands. I also see some differences in power and if there is fast charging on 
the watch.

I definitely would. I used to have an SE 2020, and I now have an iPhone 14 Pro. 
The performance is significantly improved, and both performance and battery 
life will be much better on the 15.

Phone Link for Windows with JAWS 

 

Phone Link is a service in Windows 11 that allows you to connect your smart 
phone over bluetooth so you can use your computer for taking/making calls as 
well as reading/sending text messages.  It is available for both Android and 
iOS.  A link to the Microsoft page concerning Phone Link is at the end.

The app is called Link to Windows.

 

I don't have it all figured out, but here is a start.

 

Phone Link for Windows seems to remember where you last were in the program.

So, if you exit the app while on Messages, focus will be on the New Message 
button when you start it again.

If you were on the Calls tab, it will start with your call history.

 

I left Phone Link on messages, so when I launched it, Jaws speech history shows:

If I shift tab from the New Message button, I hear:

call that number from my computer using my phone.

The focus with Jaws lands on the End Call button, or if your phone is handy you 
can do the standard two finger double tap to hang up.

 

If you are on the messages tab, New Message Button and hit spacebar or enter, 
you land in the to field.

If I use the above example and type Fred I get the same results, and if I hit 
enter, I am in an edit box to type my text message.

Note, As far as I can tell, you cannot enter hard returns/new lines in a text 
message, when you hit enter, it sends the message.

Counterpoint: despite plugging things into surge protectors, I have had several 
routers and modems destroyed by lightning during thunderstorms. I  would not 
want to be replacing those routers and modems out of pocket, so I gladly rent 
the equipment. Also, it is easier to upgrade to newer equipment when you are 
renting it from the cable company, and it only costs a few bucks a month for 
me.

I need to go and run an errand.
This errand involves me making a quick pickup of an item and then returning 
home.
I put my home as the pick up address and the place for the errand as 
destination. I then tried to add my home as a stop where the trip would be 
completed so as to ride back with the same driver; however, after adding my 
home as stop 2 and tapping on the done button, I cannot close out of the add 
multiple stops field  and so cannot request this trip.
Has anyone else done this and if so, how have you gotten around this issue?

My only issue with other NFC tag managers is that I don’t know of waterproof 
NFC tags that can go through the laundry. Has anyone found inexpensive

True, I did sometimes have issues with it saying street names after or as I 
crossed them. However, I don't know of any other sound-based app that would 
give you passive information about a marker or beacon.

I thought this would likely happen when Microsoft announced layoffs in October 
and an intention to not renew many contracts.  Personally, I did not like how 
the app announced streets as I was crossing them instead of before I arrived at

Interesting. It worked really well for me. I used it to set markers and beacons 
on hikes and at music festivals. At festivals, I would set a beacon at the 
place where I set up my chair or the place where my group was standing. I also 
used it to learn streets in my new neighborhood and to work on clicker training 
my dog to identify locations. With its help, I knew where to begin signaling 
her to find particular targets.

That is too bad.  I know what streets are in my neighborhood, and I like to 
just turn on MS Soundscapes and have it announce the streets as I cross them.  
I have a beacon set up for my house.

 

I also liked the virtual street preview.

 

I have Google maps, and of course there's apple maps, but what other very basic 
GPS is out there for those of us who just need to know where we are and not 
necessarily plan routes for everything.

A bit of an update about Cellar Tracker.

 

After about 1 day’s use, I can say it is mostly accessible and I guess fully 
accessible if you are patient and willing to work at it.  They are working on 
the app so they love getting feedback that could help them make the new app 
better and more accessible than it already is.

 

The support is absolutely wonderful!  I’ve written back and forth several times 
and after my first note, it didn’t take 30 minutes to get a helpful reply.

 

They even helped me find a wine to add that I couldn’t find in their database, 
but with only a partially correct name, they found it for me so I could add it. 
 

 

Some issues I’ve noticed is that once you enter a wine, if you entered the 
wrong number of bottles, you seemingly have to use the web site to change that 
and changing it is anything but easy.

 

Once you find the wine through the web site in your cellar, and find the edit 
link; you have to really hunt for the “Add a bottle to my cellar.” Link and 
that adds one bottle.  IN my case, I bought 4 bottles to use over the holidays 
but since the field labels on the web site were not really clear, I put the 4 
in the note field instead of the quantity.  So it showed 1.

Using the ad a bottle to my cellar link, increased it to 2.  So, after hitting 
that link 2 more times, I had the correct number.  Then there was a save and 
done button…

 

I let them know that a simple edit button that would allow you to enter the 
number or change the number just like when you first enter the wine would be 
easier for everyone, not just screen reader users.

 

I have not gotten a picture of a label to work, but that is not surprising to 
me.  You really have to be in focus for that to work.

 

I will try to find some bar codes and see if that works, but there again, they 
have a specific box you need to line the bar code up with in order for that to 
work.

 

I’m only using the free account.  I have not checked into the cost since I 
simply want a way to track what is in our cellar/basement, which is where our 
wine is stored.

 

So far, this is easily the best app/web site I have found for tracking wines.

 

Yes, a spreadsheet would work, but this is/will be much easier once I get 
everything set up.

Cool! I’m interested in this as well. A few years ago, I heard about an app on 
a ezine I’m subscribed to, which had this cool feature where you could add a 
wine to your list just by pointing the camera at the label on the bottle, but 
sadly it wasn’t accessible. I didn’t do much more looking at the time, but I’m 
definitely interested in trying out this app.

 

BTW, I agree with your wine shop when it comes to oaky chardonnays, and for 
myself, I’m partial to malbecs from South America and sauvignon Blancs from New 
Zealand.

Cellar Tracker on first glance is quite accessible.  

I wrote and gave them some feedback about the picker item for the area you want 
to searhc or add to, and I have to give them a gold star for responsiveness.

Wihtin 30 minutes I had a detailed reply.

They have just been building their app and no there are some things to improve 
and add.

The fact that they addressed my comments in detail, gave me both their classic 
web site and their modern web site links to try with the screen reader and let 
me know they are working on a completely new app that he hopes will be fully 
accessible, makes me extremelypositive about this company.

 

And this is just using the free app so far.

 

I have not done a lot yet, so stay tuend after I have enter a lot of wines, etc.

Regarding the pickers, you can flick up and down to select the value in each 
box, then hit the done button on the toolbar just above the pickers. I had the 
same issue with entering letters for the patient data, and I do not have any

I need some tips or confirmation about entering my patient information in the

I am using an iPhone SE 2022 and iOS 15.7.  My typing style is set to touch 
typing.  I typically find the letter I want to enter and lift my finger to 
enter the letter.

 

When I enter my first, middle, and last name, I hear a click when I lift my 
finger on each letter.  But I cannot confirm that I have entered the correct 
information.

 

Here is my biggest problem.  There are picker items for the month, day, and 
year of my date of birth.  I adjust each of the picker items the the correct 
value and double-tap to hopefully enter the value.  But when I look at the edit 
field, the original values of the picker items are still there.  The cursor is 
positioned at the end of the date (which is today’s date).  There is no delete 
button to delete the value.  What do I need to do to be sure the values of the 
picker items are used as my birth date?

 

I appreciate any help that will get me through this process.

Alternative to Flicktype

I know that the FlickType app has been discontinued. I thought Apple built
in a feature similar to typing with FlicType where you could tap in the
approximate location  of multiple letters and the iPhone would predict the
word you are typing. Does this exist? If so, what feature is it?
