Hi, the link below is for the cases, then I provided the link to the
message I wrote about them a while back.

Hope this helps.

I'd rather not take a chance in dropping my glass iPhone 4S, so I use TPU cases which still allow it to look good with minimal protection. Hi, I have been using the s-shape tpu cases of late. They are thin and do not
detract from the look of the iPhone. No, they don't protect like the tank
cases, but I don't drop my phone either. These cases are in many diffeernt
colors and show off the iPhone design very nicely. I've posted in this list
about them before. There are so many colors that you can choose one based on
the color of your underwear for that day if you so desire. smile.

much bulk for my liking. I think we have unique or almost so value in
the IPhone in that in itself does not feel cheap. Most other
manufacturers' phones unbelievably are encased in cheap plastic.
Paying that much for a device and for it to be made of cheap plastic
in the name of somebody's profit screams rip off in my opinion. If it
did what you needed and others didn't though it would be a trade off
maybe without a choice. So I am only interested in cases that equal or
add value to the look and feel as well as protection. My favorite
choice for that is a high quality leather.

the feel and slenderness of the phone itself. I don't find it to be too
slippery in my hands, but when I rest it on a pant leg, such as when I'm
sitting in the car, it does slide around a bit. I'm not a big fan of the

rubberized back might be nice to make the phone a bit stickier.

I've loved holding mine that way. i just now put a very simple case on

to use in certain situations. But I think I will always love the feel of
the naked phone in my hand.

RE: Aluminum versus Glass iPHone, Just a Comment

2012-10-01 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Mark,

I took a look at an iPhone 5 the other day at one of our local stores as
well and I feel exactly the opposite. The 4 and 4S are beautiful devices and
I wonder if the fact that the 5 is so noticeable lighter makes it feel cheap
to you. I think a lot of people think of something solid as being of
particularly good quality. However, I think the iPhone 5 being as thin and
as light as it is is a beautiful phone and it feels fantastic to me. On an
emotional level I so wanted to go back to my computer, sign in to my Apple
account and order one, but I still resisted because I know it doesn't make
so much sense from a technology point of view since I have a 4S. I live in a
small town up in northern BC and it's probably going to be a couple of years
before we get LTE up here and for me that would actually be the least
important reason for upgrading since I don't use much data.

Hello Everyone,

I was in my local A T T Wireless Store assisting a friend in upgrading her
iPhone 4 to an iPHone 4 S. While we were waiting for a representative, I
took the opportunity to explore iPHone 5, again.

You know what? NO matter how much Apple tries to spin it, the iPHone 5
feels like a more cheaply made device than the 4 or the 4 S.

Say what you will but there is something special about that glass finish
that is lost with iPHone 5.

Perhaps most people keep their phones in a case so it matters little to them
but to me, what put iPHone a cut above the rest has been lost with iPhone 5,
in terms of tactile satisfaction.

Also, from a visual perspective, the aluminum, to my poor old eyes anyway,
lacks that special sparkling gleam that made me so glad I own an iPhone.

For the first time in my wireless life, I am so happy I do not have the
latest and greatest.

As is always the case, this is just my opinion so please be kind (Smile).

Making a Joyful Noise,

Mark

Re: Aluminum versus Glass iPHone, Just a Comment

2012-10-01 Thread Ricardo Walker
Hi,

I totally agree. I have the 4S and 5, and yes, its lighter but, it feels solid
in the hand all the same. I actually like the fact its not slipping from my
grasp like my glass backed 4S did from time to time. haha. And after a week of
using a 5, you honestly forget how light it is. Unless your constantly using
your 4 or 4S to continuously compare the 2 phones. My only regret is the
fragility of the aluminum finish. But, there is really nothing to do about
that but to get a case. Anyone with a macbook pro, knows how after a while,
those scratches really start to show through. So, I wouldn't throw my 5 into a
pocket with my keys. :)

Re: Aluminum versus Glass iPHone, Just a Comment

2012-10-01 Thread Christopher Chaltain
Interesting. I read a review not too long ago, and I may be getting my
facts slightly backwards, but the reviewer swore the Samsung Galaxy S3
was a bit smaller and heavier than the HTC X1 making it seem like it was
more solidly constructed. He later posted an update stating that the HTC
X1 was actually slightly smaller and a bit heavier. This lead to a
tangential discussion on the factors that go into the perception that
one phone is better constructed than another. I think the point here is
that it's pretty highly subjective, and cell phone companies are
probably using some design specialists to try to convey solid
construction while at the same time making these devices smaller and
lighter.

Everything you said about the 4S, I didn't like. I am extremely happy with the

Re: Aluminum versus Glass iPHone, Just a Comment

2012-10-01 Thread Keith Watson
Mark,

I am just wondering if you actually feel this way or just wanted to start a
topic of conversation. In my opinion the 5 beats out the 4s hands down. Having
the phone just that little bit lighter is heaven! I really did not think that
it would make that much difference, but I was wrong. I will admit that I did
purchase a Ballistic case for it as I like to keep my stuff as pristine as
possible for the resale value. That said, if you do go naked I think that The
new type of glass strips at the top and bottom make a huge difference in how
slick the phone is while holding it.

As far as quality goes, I think that you are mistaken in your assessment. I
have help a S3 and quite frankly it feels like a plastic piece of crap that
would break the first time you dropped it. I think that having held the phone
for such a short time and noting the weight difference you may have come to the
conclusion that it felt cheaper. But after having used mine for the last 3 days
I would have to disagree. I think it feels just as well built as the 4S and
having the extra ram and boost in cpu was well worth stealing my daughters
upgrade!

Re: Aluminum versus Glass iPHone, Just a Comment

2012-10-01 Thread Cheryl Homiak
I had a 3gs without a case and a 4S without a case (i still have the 4S). The
4S dropped twice accidentally but actually not when I was holding it and it
wasn't harmed at all though i realize it could have been. I have always been
puzzled by all the comments about how slippery the phones were as I never have
felt insecure holding mine; i usually hold in one hand and perform actions with
the other and am not good at two-thumbs maneuvering across the keyboard. At any
rate, i've always liked holding them in my hand and have had no catastrophes.
That isn't at all to say that that shouldn't happen to people; I'm just saying
that I've loved holding mine that way. i just now put a very simple case on my
iPhone 5 and if they made this for the 4S I would consider getting it to use in
certain situations. But I think I will always love the feel of the naked
phone in my hand.

RE: Aluminum versus Glass iPhone, Just a Comment

2012-10-01 Thread Joe
Mark,

You're not alone. As ugly as I think the 4S is, I do think it feels a lot
sturdier, a man's phone if you will. I don't know that I would call the
iPhone 5 slippery, but no doubt the degree of durability took a toll to
accomplish the degree of pizzazz Apple was shooting for. To call it fragile
may be laying it on thick, but all this to say that for a 4S user, the
hardware is not a motivator to upgrade. Just a little love for us 4S users
who are looking on in envy at those with the latest and greatest. We'll
thumb our noses when we switch sides and upgrade next year. It's just a
natural cycle. But, don't let anyone tell you what to buy or not buy. It's
your money. You decide.--Joe

Everything you said about the 4S, I didn't like. I am extremely happy with
the new iPhone 5's design. I dropped my 4S all the time, and I have yet to
drop the five. I believe it's much lighter and much better design. It is not
flimsy, but very sturdy. I'm sorry you felt differently.

You know what? NO matter how much Apple tries to spin it, the iPHone

Re: Aluminum versus Glass iPHone, Just a Comment

2012-10-01 Thread James Mannion
I found the 4 and 4s to be slippery in my hand and being heavy didn't
help that. I am not doubting what others are saying for them, just
speaking of my experience. What I hate about cases most of the time is
that the either feel cheap and probably look it too and or add too
much bulk for my liking.

I'm not a big fan of the
look and feel of some of the other cell phones, but sometimes I think a
rubberized back might be nice to make the phone a bit stickier.

the phones were as I never have felt insecure holding mine; i usually
hold in one hand and perform actions with the other and am not good at
two-thumbs maneuvering across the keyboard. At any rate, i've always
liked holding them in my hand and have had no catastrophes. That isn't
at all to say that that shouldn't happen to people; I'm just saying that
I've loved holding mine that way. i just now put a very simple case on
my iPhone 5 and if they made this for the 4S I would consider getting it
to use in certain situations. But I think I will always love the feel of
the naked phone in my hand.

2012-10-01 Thread Ed Worrell
Hello Mark,
I am right there with you, I have never dropped my iPhone 4 either… But I don't
really notice this huge difference that people are saying about the feel of the
i4/i4s and i5. There really isn't that big of a difference to me. Although I
believe in keeping my investment protected as well as I can, life will happen
at some point and it's better to be safe then sorry…
