Re: an itunes question

Another way which works well is to use the same apple id and set up
her own ICloud account. By doing this you both have access to the same
apps, but she can use her own facetime etc.

RE: an itunes question

2015-11-03 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Larry,

That would mean you both use the same Apple Id for purchases (songs, movies,
apps etc.) Of course if you use the same Apple Id then whatever payment method
is on file gets used.

This is no problem, but I’d make sure you turn off automatic downloads
otherwise as soon as your wife buys an app on her device it would automatically
download on your device as well.

This is under Settings > iTunes and App Store and you can turn on/off automatic
downloads for music, apps, books and updates.

You would probably also want to make sure your wife sets up her own Apple Id
and that she uses that to sign in to Facetime and iMessage with otherwise if
you use the same Apple Id for that, you would both get iMessages sent to each
others phone number or registered emails.

Alternatively, you could turn on Family Sharing and add your wife, then if she
buys anything with her own Apple Id it will be automatically charged to the
credit card on file for your account unless she buys an iTunes Gift Card and
redeems it under her Apple Id. If you put a gift card balance on your account
and she buys something, it will still be charged on the credit card and not to
your gift card balance as gift card balances belong to whichever account they
were redeemed under.

Of course she can download any apps you previously purchased and which have
family sharing without having to pay again.

In a way I think using family sharing is a better solution than to share the
same Apple Id especially since you really do need separate Apple Id’s for
iMessage and Facetime. Of course there might be the odd app which doesn’t allow
for family sharing and in that case if she downloaded such an app you would pay
a second time.

Regards,

Sieghard

If you're trying to transfer music from one place to another, you must
back-up the muisc. To transfer the music, access the folder that has the
tracks and do a select all. then You want to paste this onto the music
folder that is found inside of the music folder inside of the itunes media
folder which is inside of the itunes folder located on the windows music
folder. Once all tracks have been transferred, select the files/folder copy
it to the clipboard and open itunes and paste that onto it. The transfer
will begin and you will be promted if any files need to be converted or can
not transfer for xxx reason. Hope that helps.

Hi Liz,

You may have to authorize your computer and this can be done in the
store
menu, "Alt+S" will get you there, then arrow down to the bottom of
that
menu.

You also may want to start with Jonathan Mosen's FS Casts on iTunes.
The
demo is with Jaws 12 and iTunes 10, but even though things have
changed in
iTunes 11, you would still get a lot out of these especially if you
enable
the Side Bar in the View menu (Alt+V) or with the Control+s shortcut.
This
makes iTunes 11 look more like iTunes 10 and many of the basic
principals
still apply. Here are direct links to these FS Casts:

Hi Tina,

If you follow the instructions about 5 or 10 minutes into the first
Podcast
you can do this easily. Jonathan explains how the first thing he does
is to
go into the control panel, type "q" for QuickTime, then go to the
Browser
Tab and uncheck anything to do with MP3. The problem is that when you
install iTunes, it changes the default behavior of links like these.
Instead
of getting the prompt whether you want to open or save the files they
just
start playing in iTunes.

Anyhow, for now you can also get around to it by just goint to the
Freedom
Scientific website, go to FS Casts, find episode 49 and then on the
link for
the episode right click or use the context menu key and select "Save
Target
As". This should bring up the standard Windows Save dialogue where you
can
select the folder where you want then, change the name of the file if
you
wish and save/download them.

Just as a tip, if you use Jaws, once you are on the page with all the
episodes, just use the Jaws Find (F3) feature and type in "episode 49"
then
press enter. It will put you right there. Let me know if that works

Thanks.

RE: iTunes 10 Podcasts from Jonathan Mosen, was: An ITunes question.

2012-12-09 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Tina,

If you follow the instructions about 5 or 10 minutes into the first Podcast
you can do this easily. Jonathan explains how the first thing he does is to
go into the control panel, type "q" for QuickTime, then go to the Browser
Tab and uncheck anything to do with MP3. The problem is that when you
install iTunes, it changes the default behavior of links like these. Instead
of getting the prompt whether you want to open or save the files they just
start playing in iTunes.

Anyhow, for now you can also get around to it by just goint to the Freedom
Scientific website, go to FS Casts, find episode 49 and then on the link for
the episode right click or use the context menu key and select "Save Target
As". This should bring up the standard Windows Save dialogue where you can
select the folder where you want then, change the name of the file if you
wish and save/download them.

Just as a tip, if you use Jaws, once you are on the page with all the
episodes, just use the Jaws Find (F3) feature and type in "episode 49" then
press enter. It will put you right there. Let me know if that works for you.
