I will contact the person we were helping and see if she can tell me which template she uses in Pages for iOS. As soon as I receive a reply, I will post to the list. As for me, I believe that the key to successfully printing envelopes, on the actual envelopes, themselves has to do with the type of printer one is using. I always purchase printers with multiple sheet feeders one being dedicated to envelopes. As I generally do not find multiple sheet feeders on inkjet printers, I purchase laser printers, only. After a totally blind / low vision person learns how to insert the envelope into the dedicated sheet feeder, based on his needs, then almost any word processor can easily be configured, on the fly, to print on the envelope. It is for this reason, why I don't think there are many, if any at all, apps specifically dedicated to printing envelopes. Just so you know, I use an old Samsung laser printer that, at the time of purchase, costs $49; not on sale. I say "old" but I purchased it back in 2013 or so. I use Microsoft word 2007 to print envelopes. The trick is to get a sighted person to help you learn how to insert the envelope into the printer, the first couple of times, after that, it's pretty much smooth sailing. As for iOS apps, I have successfully printed envelopes from iPhone to an AirPrinter but the key to this was that I had a sighted person insert the envelope into the printer as I was at a remote location and we were simply helping out a friend. Mark, I spent a fair amount of time going through the templates for Pages on iOS and never found one that said anything about envelopes. I just re-downloaded Pages so I have the latest version on iOS 13.3 beta. Does the template you are talking about have a specific name? RE: App For Printing Envelopes?
I've always found it much easier to print to labels and then stick them on my envelope of choice. I primarily use the Avery 5160 labels which come 30 to a sheet in 10 rows of 3 columns. These are white self-adhesive labels that work well on standard-sized business envelopes. For larger envelopes and the occasional box, I use the Avery 8162 label. These come 14 to a sheet with 7 rows of 2 columns. Label sheets fit nicely in my laser printer paper tray and Microsoft Word allows printing to labels straight from it. You can specify the label type you're printing and also choose whether you are printing a full sheet of the same label or printing individual labels. If the latter, you specify the row and column of the label being printed. I never had much luck back when I was working printing to an envelope. I'm sure things have gotten better since then but I suffered too many paper jams with the envelopes and I've never had a problem with a sheet of labels jamming in my printer. Mark, The question was how to do this from an iPhone. Saying you did it doesn't give any detail about which app, or how you managed it other than having a sighted person insert the envelope. It sounds like he has an AirPrint enabled printer, so let's assume the envelope is in the printer. What are the steps to get an address printed on it? RE: App For Printing Envelopes?
I use a little Word template on my computer which I can’t even remember where I got it from. It is set up to print on a regular size business envelope and it works well enough. In looking through the app store, and doing a little searching on the web, it sounds somewhat difficult if it can be done. You are supposed to be able to do this with the Pages app, according to one article; but I do not use Pages, so am not sure if that is something one could do using VoiceOver. I only found one app that sounded like it might do that, but the description makes me think it is a purely visual app. No mention of VoiceOver, and it had low ratings anyway and had not been updated for a few years. So, unless someone has a solid way to do this, I think getting sighted help is your best bet.
