braille pen and braille pen 12

2014-08-11 Thread Mich Verrier
hello. a few months ago I inquired about this Braille pen and was told that
it was no longer being made but that the Braille pen 12 was still being made
and that they were waiting for apple to in prove something at there end
where Braille is concerned. maybe people who have used this displays' for
input would like to chime in? I also found out that at least hear in Canada
in Ontario where I am from that this is not something covered under the adp
or assistive devices program. so if you want to get one you will have to
save up the funds. at least for those who live in Ontario at least. I have
no idea if other places cover this. from Mich.

I have not seen this, but I would suggest you check out the Braille Pen
Slim. This is a Braille keys keyboard.

I have been using the BP12 recently, and while the display is smaller than I
want, it has been a delight using the Braille for input. I am a very
proficient typist and had been very good Braillist, too, but not used
Braille over the past 25 years or so; not much, anyway. It was like riding a
bicycle. I think I picked up the keyboard much faster than reading.

I imagine this BP Slim is smaller than any QWERTY keyboard. It is a bit
pricy at around $400, but I do suggest it as a strong alternative for those
looking for an external input device.

I tired of bt keyboards as yet another gadget, took up mBraille as I could
type fluently on that and transfer my text when done.

That supports swedish for sure.
Ok, fairly sure.

I wonder if this RII mini keyboard supports swedish keyboard layout since it
is different from the american/english one? Does the documentation or web
site if any say anything about that? It could be interesting to know
although i'm actually against using keyboards other than the on-screen one,
it's yet another clumsy device to carry with me. At least my policy is to
thoroughly learn and use the on-screen keyboard before getting an external
one, otherwise you risk to get smoked so to speak if the battery of the
keyboard runs out in the middle of nowhere. Anyways this is beside the
point.

Hello Everyone,

You know, it's only after having the RII mini Bluetooth keyboard for the
past 48 hours or so that I began to realize how much I have missed having
a
mobile hardware keyboard with which to compose SMS messages while on the
move in areas where voice dictation is not an option.

Today, I was in a vehicle, in stop-and-go traffic when I needed to reply
to
a text message. It was nice not having my typing accuracy severely
diminished by the varying speeds of the car, as would be the case when
entering text via the on-screen keyboard.

Of course, I do have a Braille display/keyboard but (1) the model I have,
while portable, does require significantly more space and (2) it is so
expensive, I hate taking it out and about the city unless absolutely
necessary.

Earlier today I stopped by one of those cell phone case kiosk that one can
find in shopping malls, and purchased a folio style iPhone case for the
RII
mini Bluetooth keyboard. I think I paid about $12. Just a little
protection for the keyboard and I find that it makes the keyboard even
more
convenient and comfortable to hold while typing--especially when I'm
walking.

This is the fourth Bluetooth keyboard I've purchased for use with my
iPHone
but the first and only one that is hitting on all cylinders, so to speak
(smile).

If you mean the new version, it has touch cursor buttons. Not touch cursor as
in physical buttons, but capasitive buttons, like tiny touch sensors, in place
of buttons. This not only marks the first time the Pen has included cursor
controls at all, it offers less moving parts that can break and allows the
device to be smaller.

Thank you very much. I'm watching that one with great interest. According to
Larry lewis, it doesn't have support for the cursor running keys with the iOS
devices yet. Hopefully soon.

question about the Braille pen 12.

2014-01-18 Thread Mich
Hi all. I am just wondering. does any one know if you are still able to get the
Braille pen 12 for the Eye Phone? since I have looked at aroga.com the website
where these were sold but can't really find any info about where to by one if
one wanted to. I have sent them a e mail but so far have not herd back. I also
tried calling there office in Toronto and got a message saying to leave a
message and some one would get back to me. I also am wondering for those of us
who were in Canada if this would be something that would be covered under the
adp program? I have seen a few on line from time to time for sail that were
allot cheaper then the 900 something that aroga cells them for but that was
quite some time ago and I forget now if this was the Braille pen slim or the
Braille pen 12. I found a podcast on this product a few days ago from 2012 and
so thought that now that I have a Telephones that I would ask. from Mich.
