I'm not sure what you're asking about, but yes it will. If you're talking Gmail, it'll be even easier since Gmail and using your Google account is pretty much the default on an Android device. When your using iTunes to sync between your Outlook on your computer and your iPhone then you're just syncing with the local contacts on your iPhone. There are a few things you can do. On your iPhone, you can just make sure the contacts option is checked in the settings for your Gmail account. This will create a separate address book on your phone that will be in sync with your Google Contacts. This will be separate from the local address book on your phone. Through the contacts app you can use either or both address books, All of your addresses will be presented in one list, so if you have the same account in Outlook and Google then you'll see it twice on your iPhone, if you have both address books checked. Syncing between your iPhone and Outlook and syncing between your iPhone and Google will just update their own address books, so you won't be clobbering anything. The only problem you'll have is that you might have some duplicate entries. I hope this makes sense so far. What you can do, which is what I do, except I don't use Outlook, is just put all of your contacts in one place, such as Google Contacts. In this case, you'd have to use something on your PC to synch your Outlook contacts with Google and then keep them in sync. On your phone then, you would just stop using the local addresses and just use your Google Contacts. Like I said, this is what I do, but I use Thunderbird instead of Outlook and I have a plug in in Thunderbird that syncs my contacts between Thunderbird and Google Contacts. In this way, I just enter a contact in one place and it shows up everywhere. Right, CardDav is a protocol and not an app. It allows you to sync your contacts between your phone and a contact server that supports CardDav. The Mail app in IOS already uses CardDav to sync Google Contacts. You don't need to set up a separate CardDav account. You just need to check the contacts box when you set up your Gmail account on your iPhone. It says the following in the URL that was provided earlier: Under the hood, Apple is using the open standard IMAP, CalDAV, and CardDAV services to handle syncing Google services; You shouldn't have to provide any server information. RE: Can anyone tell me how I can makes sure that all my contacts are properly synced between my ICloud and Gmail accounts please?
CardDav is not an app, it's a protocol like IMAP or Exchange Active sync and it is used for setting up accounts to sync contacts. One reason why I use Outlook.com which used to be Hotmail is that it uses Exchange Active Sync and with exchange active sync not only email but also contacts and calendar is synced. -Original Message- From: 'Eleanor Roberts' via VIPhone [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] Sent: Friday, July 22, 2016 7:56 AM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: Can anyone tell me how I can makes sure that all my contacts are properly synced between my ICloud and Gmail accounts please? You are not going to find the Card DAV account in the app store, you will only be able to find it in the setting called mail contacts and calendars and if you go to add account it will be in other. Just make sure Contacts is selected and it'll be using CardDav. If you want this to be your default, such as when you're creating a new contact, make sure Gmail is set as your default in your contact settings. In the contacts app, you can restric what you see to just your Gmail contacts, so you can use this to help make sure everything is synced up by comparing what you see to what you think you should see. Re: Can anyone tell me how I can makes sure that all my contacts are properly synced between my ICloud and Gmail accounts please?
Sorry, I didn't read the whole thread closely enough. Using CardDav, which like I said is now part of the Mail apps Gmail support, will sync your contacts between your Gmail account on your phone and Google Contacts in the cloud. It won't sync between iCloud and Google Contacts. I just keep all of my contacts in Google Contacts and then point all of my devices to it, IOS, Linux, Android, Windows, and everything is all synced with Google Contacts. I don't use contacts in iCloud at all. On 22/07/16 07:12, Christopher Chaltain wrote: The IOS Mail app supports CardDav (note the correct spelling) natively when setting up a Gmail account. Re: Can anyone tell me how I can makes sure that all my contacts are properly synced between my ICloud and Gmail accounts please?
The IOS Mail app supports CardDav (note the correct spelling) natively when setting up a Gmail account. The way I did this was so easy and simple and works well. Go into settings and where it says contacts, mail accounts. Choose to set up an other account and select cardav. You put your Google account information there and it moves everything over. Any time you update on Google, it also updates on your iPhone. Do a little research on cardav accounts and see if that's what you're wanting to do. On 7/22/2016 6:23 AM, 'Eleanor Roberts' via VIPhone wrote: Hi all I'm wondering if anyone can help me.
