Re: Changing volume on earbuds remote and VO babble

2014-03-28 Thread Wayne Merritt
Hmm, interesting. I use earbuds all the time and frequently adjust the
volume or start/stop media with them when in the lock screen. I
haven't had this behavior yet. I have iOS 7.1 on an iPhone 5. What
model phone do you have? Is it only happening in the lock screen or in
certain apps, and if so which apps?

Regards,
Wayne

 Dear listers

I recently listened to the Maccessibility round table podcast where they
discussed iOS7.1 and they mentioned about how the 'Screen locked' message
isn't repeated which is great, but none of them seem to feel the need to
mention that, unlike in iOS6, when you change the volume on the earbuds
remote iOS7 announces all sorts of lockscreen info such as notifications or
what's currently playing etc depending upon what last had focus. This made
me wonder whether it was just me that experiences this.

Do other people have babbled info over the top of what they are listening to
whenever you change the volume and does anyone know how I can prevent this
from happening? For me in iOS6 you never had VoiceOver speaking when you
adjusted the volume, and when you pressed the power button you only ever got
the time - which was all very neat and never interrupted what you were
listening to. I was hoping that 7.1 would bring this behaviour back but it
 hasn't for me.

 Thanks - Robin.

Changing volume on earbuds remote and VO babble

2014-03-28 Thread Robin Christopherson
Wayne

Sounds like it is just me then, which is good because it means that others
aren’t bothered by it and also that I might be able to sort it out. I’m using a
5S and it only happens on the lock screen. It announces whatever last had focus
on the lock screen (a notification or album artwork etc) and I also get
announcements like ‘High volume’ when I hit the upper limit. Basically my
adjusting the volume wakes the screen up each time and speaks things every
time. I’ve tried making changes in settings under various things to no avail.

Thanks – Robin.
