Hi Mary, I just tried to Google play on my iPhone and didn't have any luck. I was able to download the book I wanted but couldn't get Google play to read it. I hope you have better luck on the android operating system. this works for me here. If I do a 2 finger swipe down the book reads with VoiceOver. I have also used Play Books on Android. You have to make sure the book is not in scan page mode. In other words, it needs to be in flowing text mode. If I have the book mode I get a message and tell me scan page switch to flowing text to hear this. Mary, I just downloaded the Google Play Books app onto my fifth gen iPod Touch. My first thought is that I prefer the app for Kindle books. I did download a free book into the Google app and played with it a bit. once the book was opened, a two finger flick down started continuous reading, and I could just sit back and listen. When pages turned, the page numbers were spoken. I could not quickly find a way to silence that. Google Play Books: Page Selection Going Random at Chapter Transitions
Hi, all, I'm having a difficulty that I don't remember ever having before, but I haven't used this app in a little while. When I reach a chapter transition with speech muted and using my Braille display, Google Play Books starts flipping rapidly through the pages. If speech is on, this doesn't happen. Has anyone else experienced this? I've already tried taking the app out of the app switcher and rebooting my iPod, but this doesn't have any effect. Any ideas would be appreciated. Hi. have been trying to get a book to see how well google play books works but i can't for the life of me figure out how to download a free book or purchase one either. Ugh sorry, I meant to write that a double-finger swipe down only makes VO read the one page, not multiple pages until you stop it from doing so like in iBooks. HI. the trouble i was having was that i was clicking on the free link but the book wasn't downloading. I noticed that today Google Play Books has a new update, and according to the details it has corrected the bug with VoiceOver. I was just wondering if anyone has tried it yet? Hi, Katey, The frustrating thing is that every other control in this app is readable with VO, but it is not possible to turn pages. (I'm disjointedly reminded of a large wheelchair-accessible restroom with bars with a high step leading into it.) I looked Google Play books up on Apple Vis, and the review says that Google has been made aware of the situation. I don't suppose it would hurt to write to them. In any case, you might try looking for Google Books.ipa in the recycle bin, or if you use Windows Backup, see if it's there. I successfully restored Google Books, and I am s relieved.
