It was a classic case of - dictation strikes again.

"Kendall wants" meant "Kindle once".

Re: Has anyone used the nook app with the iPhone?

2016-04-02 Thread Anne Robertson
Kobo books were accessible before Nook, but they became inaccessible for about
a year, and then they were accessible again. They then became inaccessible
again for about a year once more, and now they’re accessible once more on the
iPhone, but not so much on the iPad.
I like Kobo because I can read them on my iPhone and my Mac. The Kobo app isn’t
accessible on the Mac, but Adobe Digital Editions reads them fine on the Mac.

Cheers,

Anne

2016-04-01 Thread Mary Otten
The books never expire. But they can be taken away if for whatever reason
rights change. You are not buying the book. You're buying a sensually a license
to use the book. And if the company decides otherwise, that license goes away.
Mary
PS the other good thing about Kindle versus nook, aside from the fact that the
prices are usually less, is that they also have lots and lots of really cheap
books and well advertised sales on books that are normally cheap but are
cheaper during the sale. I really like nook, because they were the first one
other than iBooks to become accessible. But they can't compete with Kindle on
price and out reach.

Re: Has anyone used the nook app with the iPhone?

2016-04-01 Thread Mary Otten
You have to buy your books on the website, whether that is Barnes & Noble or
Amazon. You cannot purchase books from within the nook or Kindle apps on your
Apple device. This is Apple's issue, they want 30% of the selling price. So of
course, companies like Barnes & Noble and Amazon don't like that, and so you
can't buy books using their respective apps. If you purchase that cookbook you
wanted on Amazon's Kindle page, you can direct the book to be sent to your
device of choice at time of purchase. Then, when you open the Kindle app on
your device, the book will download, and you will be able to see it. If you
have just one device registered for receiving kindle books, when you purchase
the Kindle version, the book should go directly to your only registered device.
If you have more than one device with the Kindle app or you have Kindle
installed on your Mac or PC, then, you will want to select from the menu which
device you want the book sent to at time of purchase. On your iPhone or iPad,
there will be an device selected by default. If there are other devices
available, there will be a button which you will double tap, and then you will
select your preferred device using the picker.

Hello,
The app itself is free. You do have to create an account. The books can
range from a few dollars on upwards. Once you purchase a book its yours
forever. Think of using this app like going into a regular book store

Re: Has anyone used the nook app with the iPhone?

2016-03-31 Thread Mary Otten
I have not used the nook app in a long time. What problems that you have with
the Kindle app? Their selection is generally greater by far and usually cheaper
than other sources. So if that book is available on Kindle, perhaps you can
explain what problems you had and they can be solved.
