RE: How to reboot and iPhone 7 without turning the volume down

2016-11-06 Thread Alan Lemly
Hi Sieghard,

Yes, I just rebooted my iPhone 7 again and this time I made sure to press the
power button for a second and holding before pressing and holding the volume
down button. The phone rebooted after a few seconds and the volume was fine
when it restarted.

Thanks to those who commented on this thread.

Hi Alan,

Maybe try pressing the home button first and then ad the volume button and see
if that makes a difference. Maybe you pressed the volume button a bit before
the home button and that is why the volume got turned down. Just a guess on my
part, I am going to stick with my 6S Plus until the 10th anniversary iPhone is
released next year so I can’t try it out.

With the elimination of a real home button on the iPhone 7, my understanding is
that to reboot the iPhone, one holds down the power and volume down buttons
simultaneously. I just tried this on my new iPhone 7 while it was powered on
but locked and it did reboot the phone but for several minutes, I thought I had
lost Voiceover when in fact what had happened is that I turned my volume all
the way down while rebooting. If someone knows of a procedure in order to avoid
doing this I'd love to hear it. Otherwise, this seems to be a bad design flaw
for those of us who depend on audio in order to use our phones and who reboot
their devices every so often as I do.

Thanks in advance for your comments.

Hi,

With iPhone 7, you need to press the sleep/wake button and the volume down at

Todd,

The iPhone 7 still has a home button in the same location and it can be located
by touch. However, it is more of a circle controlled by a haptic feedback
engine instead of a physical button which moves up and down as before.

How to reboot and iPhone 7 without turning the volume down

2016-11-05 Thread Alan Lemly
With the elimination of a real home button on the iPhone 7, my understanding
is that to reboot the iPhone, one holds down the power and volume down
buttons simultaneously. I just tried this on my new iPhone 7 while it was
powered on but locked and it did reboot the phone but for several minutes, I
thought I had lost Voiceover when in fact what had happened is that I turned
my volume all the way down while rebooting. If someone knows of a procedure
in order to avoid doing this I'd love to hear it. Otherwise, this seems to
be a bad design flaw for those of us who depend on audio in order to use our
phones and who reboot their devices every so often as I do.

Thanks in advance for your comments.
