Thanks for posting this info. I have found this post lately, and let me
reply normal keyboard version again. I think this issue should be addressed
in next iOS update, but until then, this is a handy partial solution.

Re: [Bulk] RE: Fwd: How to solve an issue in iOS 8.0 which makes Bluetooth keyboards not working

2014-09-28 Thread Teresa Cochran
Yes, there are quirks. It's best to type in a text field with QuickNav off. You
can toggle it by pressing the two side arrow keys simultaneously on the
keyboard. If you use a Braille display, turning QuickNav off doesn't seem to
affect any of its functions.

Go to settings, general, keyboard, add keyboard. Pick any keyboard and add
it. Go into the notes app (or any text field.) Turn quicknav off by pressing
left and right-arrow keys at the same time. Find the keyboard key on your touch
scrreen next to the space ba and cycle between the default keyboard and the one
you added. At this point, you can turn quicknav back on and you can also remove
the keyboard you added at this point. Just be sure not to change the language
setting in settings, and this will work.

keyboard is working again, which is what I am writing this message on.
Thanks to the RiVo team for figuring this out. Perhaps Apple should
hire them.

RiVO Troubleshooting tip: An issue in iOS 8.0 which makes Bluetooth
keyboards not working

There is a small bug in iOS 8.0, which makes all the Bluetooth
keyboards including RiVO not working for VoiceOver except a few functions. We
have found a way to cope with it although not a neat one. Once the problem
disappears, however, it doesn't appear again unless you change the iPhone
Language in Settings, General, Language & Region. To make the problem disappear
from your iPhone, follow the steps below:

a. If you use just one software keyboard in iPhone, temporarily add
another in Settings, General, Keyboard, Keyboards, Add New Keyboard. You may
add arbitrary one.

b. Open the Notes app.

c. Create a new note.

d. Hold down L1 and press B7 to turn off the quick navigation
option.

e. Press L3 to turn RiVO into typing mode.

f. Hold down L1 and press L3 a few times to cycle through the list
of software keyboards.

g. Hold down L1 and press B7 to turn on the quick navigation option.

h. Now RiVO should work fine. If you want, you may delete the
software keyboard temporarily added at Settings, General, Keyboard, Keyboards.

Thanks.
Best regards,

RiVO team at Mobience

That's too bad! Just in case you did not think of it, make sure quicknav is off
by pressing left and right arrows together.

How about trying a reset with home and screen-lock buttons?
I know you probably tried this but just making sure.
Good luck!

Well it has broken for me in two days. I think the problem is when the
device initializes. Once it's reset, it seems to stick. There's still
a bug of course, but tis reduces part of the problem on every device
I've tested it on.

Yes, use the software keyboard to cycle between keyboard options.

Dear our valued RiVO customers,

We have found a small but serious issue in iOS 8.0 which could make any

RiVO Troubleshooting tip: An issue in iOS 8.0 which makes Bluetooth keyboards
not working
<http://mobience.com/rivo/rivo_ios_troubleshooting_en.html#iOS8_keyboard_not_working>

There is a small bug in iOS 8.0, which makes all the Bluetooth keyboards
including RiVO not working for VoiceOver except a few functions. We have found
a way to cope with it although not a neat one. Once the problem disappears,
however, it doesn't appear again unless you change the iPhone Language in
Settings, General, Language & Region. To make the problem disappear from your
iPhone, follow the steps below:

a. If you use just one software keyboard in iPhone, temporarily add another in
Settings, General, Keyboard, Keyboards, Add New Keyboard. You may add arbitrary
one.

b. Open the Notes app.

c. Create a new note.

d. Hold down L1 and press B7 to turn off the quick navigation option.

e. Press L3 to turn RiVO into typing mode.

f. Hold down L1 and press L3 a few times to cycle through the list of software
keyboards.

g. Hold down L1 and press B7 to turn on the quick navigation option.

h. Now RiVO should work fine. If you want, you may delete the software keyboard
temporarily added at Settings, General, Keyboard, Keyboards.

Thanks.

2014-09-22 Thread Teresa Cochran
Somewhere in this thread I posted more general instructions. You basically use
your software keyboard for all the Rivo instructions except toggling QkNav,
which you do by pressing the left and right-arrow keys on the Bluetooth
keyboard simultaneously.

I am experiencing the same problem. The easiest fix for now is to turn voice
over off while you type the message. When you finish, turn it on and read it
back. Can't come up with anything better for now. One thing for sure, you can
type faster because the keys are more responsive with voice over off.

RE: How to solve an issue in iOS 8.0 which makes Bluetooth keyboards not working

2014-09-22 Thread Mary-Jo Lord
Hi,

I don't have a RiVo keyboard. I have an Apple keyboard and a Braille Pen
12. I don't have keys beginning with the letter l with numbers after them
for any of those commands. Am I to assume that I should just add another
software keyboard and cycle through them with the on screen keyboard and
that would solve the problem?

Thanks to Cheryl for forwarding this.
If you do not have the RiVO keyboard, just use the on screen keyboard and
double-tap and hold on the "next keyboard" button to the right of the
numbers button in the lower left of the screen.
Once you have added the extra software keyboard and gone through the steps
below, at least for me and at least one other person, the bluetooth keyboard
is working again, which is what I am writing this message on.
Thanks to the RiVo team for figuring this out. Perhaps Apple should hire
them.

RiVO Troubleshooting tip: An
<http://mobience.com/rivo/rivo_ios_troubleshooting_en.html#iOS8_keyboard_not

There is a small bug in iOS 8.0, which makes all the Bluetooth keyboards

found a way to cope with it although not a neat one. Once the problem
disappears, however, it doesn't appear again unless you change the iPhone

disappear from your iPhone, follow the steps below:

a. If you use just one software keyboard in iPhone, temporarily add another
in Settings, General, Keyboard, Keyboards, Add New Keyboard. You may add
arbitrary one.

b. Open the Notes app.

c. Create a new note.

d. Hold down L1 and press B7 to turn off the quick navigation option.

e. Press L3 to turn RiVO into typing mode.

f. Hold down L1 and press L3 a few times to cycle through the list of
software keyboards.

g. Hold down L1 and press B7 to turn on the quick navigation option.

h. Now RiVO should work fine. If you want, you may delete the software
keyboard temporarily added at Settings, General, Keyboard, Keyboards.

Thanks.

Re: How to solve an issue in iOS 8.0 which makes Bluetooth keyboards not working

2014-09-21 Thread Teresa Cochran
Go to settings, general, keyboard, add keyboard. Pick any keyboard and add it.
Go into the notes app (or any text field.) Turn quicknav off by pressing left
and right-arrow keys at the same time. Find the keyboard key on your touch
scrreen next to the space ba and cycle between the default keyboard and the one
you added. At this point, you can turn quicknav back on and you can also remove
the keyboard you added at this point. Just be sure not to change the language
setting in settings, and this will work.

Re: How to solve an issue in iOS 8.0 which makes Bluetooth keyboards not working

2014-09-21 Thread Joseph
Hello,
This is really interesting.
Cheryl, thanks for posting this.
One question though. In following step F, how do you switch between keyboards
on the bluetooth keyboard?

Fwd: How to solve an issue in iOS 8.0 which makes Bluetooth keyboards not working

2014-09-21 Thread Richard Turner
Thanks to Cheryl for forwarding this.
If you do not have the RiVO keyboard, just use the on screen keyboard and
double-tap and hold on the "next keyboard" button to the right of the numbers
button in the lower left of the screen.
Once you have added the extra software keyboard and gone through the steps
below, at least for me and at least one other person, the bluetooth keyboard is
working again, which is what I am writing this message on.
Thanks to the RiVo team for figuring this out. Perhaps Apple should hire them.

Re: How to solve an issue in iOS 8.0 which makes Bluetooth keyboards not working

2014-09-21 Thread Teresa Cochran
> Hi, Cheryl,

What is the equivalent of Step f in the instructions, in which you cycle
through your available keyboards once you've added one? How do you do this on a
full keyboard? It doesn't seem like you'd push the keyboards button on the
on-screen keyboard.
Thanks,
Teresa

Fwd: How to solve an issue in iOS 8.0 which makes Bluetooth keyboards not working

2014-09-21 Thread Cheryl Homiak
I am forwarding this because it possibly might help people with bluetooth
keyboard issues with other keyboards.

Cheryl

I tried and tried to turn over a new leaf.
I got crumpled wads of tear-stained paper
thrown in the trash!
Then God gave me a new heart and life:
His joy for my despairing tears!
And now, every day:
"This I call to mind,
and therefore I have hope:
The steadfast love of the Lord
never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness."
(Lamentations 3:21-23 ESV)
