Re: Ios and hidden numbers

2016-09-23 Thread Jan Kleinhans
Hi

Thanks for that. Yes, I do use that feature, mainly over night time and so on,
but this was just an interesting observation from wanting to use a spam blocker
app.

Thanks all the same.

The only way you can definitely block unknown calls is by using the Do Not
Disturb feature.
There are a few other ways that you can find out there on the internet, but I
have not been successful with any of them.

  * Go to Settings / Do not disturb.
  * Swipe right and double tap on Manual, it is a toggle switch, and it is off
by default, so you need to turn it on.
  * SWIPE until you hear, allow calls from, I think favorites is the default.
This is a button, so double tap it.
  * Now swipe until you hear all contacts and double tap to select it. Then
swipe left back to the back button, you are all done.

Now your phone will block any call that is from anyone that is not in your
contacts.
Now all calls will still show up in your list of recent calls so you can add
them to your contacts if you want., and all calls will still be able to leave
you a voice mail, but only calls that are from your contacts will make your
phone ring.

I wish Apple would add the feature so you could automatically block any call
that was private or unknown.
  This would be very helpful.

numbers, (private numbers) but on ios this is not possible. The developers of
that particular app wrote a bit stating that, due to restrictions by apple,
hidden numbers can not be blocked by that app and then, I suppose, any other
app doing this particular function. Does anyone out there have any ideas on
this, and why it would be impossible to block those numbers on ios platform
then? I remember having an old symbian phone, and an app called handy
blacklist, and even with that I can block the "private" numbers.

Any ideas? I find this rather an interesting situation, but a pity also
that this seems to be impossible to achieve.
