I bought the Rode SC 6 L kit that has two lapel microphones plus an adapter
that has the headphone out in the middle position, with a microphone in on
either side of that. This will then allow you to hear Voiceover and the output
of the microphone. The app you use determines whether you hear yourself in
realtime though, so you may have to do some experimenting. The purchase of the
USB3 camera adapter is a good choice as well. I also have a Blue Yeti microfone
that I use for stationary recording, and it plugs into this. I believe that the
adapter I mentioned is just called the SC 6 without the microphones. Rode are
an Australian company, but I got this set from
www.Sweetwater.com
who ship out from Indiana.

Hi, I bought a lavalier mic to record into my iPhone. I figured I
would use my AirPods to still listen to sound, but on connecting the
lavalier to the 3.5 MM jack on my 6S, I lost all sound. I did some
research. Some people claim a splitter would help if I want to use
another 3.5 MM set of earbuds. I don’t mind spending a few bucks to
buy a splitter, but then I found posts claiming this method was not
working in recent models of iDevices, understanding I would need an
adapter to plug into the lightning port. Can anyone offer other
suggestions? I’m going to buy the camera kit and powered hub to
connect a better mic, but I like the idea of carrying around this
smaller lapel mic when I need to present in some place other than my
home or office. Thanks for any suggestions.--Joe
