Listing OCR Recognizer apps

2013-09-13 Thread Traci Duncan
Hi all,

Inside my OCR folder, I have 11 apps. In an effort to clean up my iPhone a
bit, could the group offer up their summery on the following apps.

I’ll first list the 2 I use more frequently.
Prizmo
TapTapSee

I occasionally use:
RedLaser
VizWiz
Reviews, (use to be Consmer.)

Here are the apps I’ve used very little, so don’t really know if they are worth
keeping.

DocScanner
ImageToText
Color ID
SayText
Recognizer, (regret this app big time)
Perfect OCR

So, my thought was, there are some of you that probably have far more useable
experience with these apps, and you may be able to advice me on keep or discard.

Thanks for your help, :)

Re: Listing OCR Recognizer apps

2013-09-13 Thread Fred Olver
recognizer was not supposed to be an OCR app. It was to be able to recognize
items, you take a pic of something, put an audible label with it and the next
time the app sees the item it will tell you what you recorded for it.

Re: Listing OCR Recognizer apps

2013-09-13 Thread Traci Duncan
:) thank you for the replies so far. I figured OCR recognizer apps was a
sweeping subject for the list of apps.

Let' see, I absolutely love tapTapSee. It is the app that has pretty much
replaced vizWiz for me. I have used it to read names of products in my hand,
I've used it to read something on the tv screen, and I've used it to identify
pics on my device.

I think it is mostly the OCR apps that have me overwhelmed. I don't use them
enough to know which work really well. I've used Prizmo for reading mail or
longer portions of text. I've also used it when I've taken a screen shot of an
online receipt and have it read it to me.

I'm just not familiar enough with Perfect OCR, ImageToText, DocScanner, or
SayText.

When I first got Recognizer, I gave it a whirl, but I had a hard time having it
recognize similar items of the same type. It's a very cool app with impressive
technology, but lol, guess not for me. :)

Hopefully that answer some questions. I should look in my store history and
remind myself which ones I paid for.

Re: Listing OCR Recognizer apps

2013-09-13 Thread Donna
Chuck

Why keep apps on your device that aren't being used and are taking up space,
whether one needs to free up space or not. Once an app is downloaded, free or
paid, to your device it is yours. Apple can not charge you for a free app that
you have uninstalled and want to reinstall. And they can not charge again for
an app that you have already paid for. Reinstalling a deleted app is simple.

2013-09-13 Thread Traci Duncan
I've only done it a couple times, it gives you a brief description. Usually
enough to jog my memory of what the pic is. Give it a try, it's pretty cool.

And funny enough, I'm not too worried about space, but why have digital
clutter. ;) I do only have the 16gb iPhone.

Thank you to the person that suggested 2 specific apps to keep. I think for
now, I'll leave them in iTunes, but take some of them off my iPhone.

Re: Listing OCR Recognizer apps

2013-09-13 Thread Joseph FreeTech
Hi John,

If you mean you have not been able to access the list of all apps you have
Purchased and installed on your IOS device, try this...

To update apps on your IOS device:
1. Go to the apps store using your home screen icon. You can also launch the
Apps store by using Siri and saying the following:
launch apps store.
2. At the very bottom row of icons in the Apps store you will find
Updates. Swipe to the right and Double tap on that icon when you find it.
3. Wait for a series of tones telling you that your iPhone is loading the
page.
4. Use the 4-finger tap at the top of the screen to be taken to the first
icon which should be Updates.
5. Swipe to the right about 4 times and you should get a listing of all the
apps available for you to update.
6. To update a specific app simply swipe to the right until you read the
details of the desired app and eventually you will reach the Update X app
button. Double-tap that Update button to begin the installation of the
update. When the process is complete, the Update button will change to
Open.
***7. If you want to review a complete list of all installed apps on your
IOS device, while on the Updates screen, simply use the 4-finger single tap
to be placed at the top of the screen then swipe to the right and double-tap
on the Purchased icon. You will hear a series of sounds informing you that
the page is loading. When the page loads you can simply start from the top
of the screen and swipe to the right, and eventually you will come across a
listing of every app you have installed on your device.
Note: When on the updates page, be sure to avoid pressing the Update all
button as it will install all updates at once. This can be useful under
certain circumstances as you will not have to update a single app at a time,
but sometimes you may not want to update an app as newer changes might
render the app a bit less useful to a blind IOS user.

Please feel free to reply and request any clarification if necessary as the
information above definitely applies to IOS 6.13, but I'm fairly confident
the instructions set above will also apply to recent version of the
iPhone--with a little modification if necessary. (Smile).
