Often times though, VoiceOver simply loses its focus and when I spin the dial it begins turning the rotor from lines to words etc. as it would normally do when not in an an app with custom gestures. The result is I have not been able as of yet to win the second game, and I am an experienced VoiceOver year of three years. :) Cheers, Grant -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the "VIPhone" Google Group. Re: LookTel VO Tutorial
Hi Mickey, Each of the louder click sounds does represent a number. There are the metallic sounds as you turn the virtual dial and there are louder click sounds when you come to each number. The gentle bell-like tone is mixed in with the louder click when you come to the number that you are to enter into the lock. When you hear this bell-like tone, (it's actually a coin flip) you flick up or down to enter that number. Hope this helps! Mickey, I had the same problem so I slowed down more and went through the numbers again. I have found the same thing when I use the rotor gesture on the iPhone. It really helped me learn to slow down. On Tue, Mar 5, 2013 at 9:05 AM, Scott Davert wrote: > I love the games that help the user practice gestures. I love the games that help the user practice gestures. The rotor gesture in particular is one that I've found challenging for some people, and the game with the safe locks really helps with this. I am glad to see this approach. I am an instructor and will be using this as a way to make people comfortable with voiceOver's gestures. Ron, thank you. We'll be changing the sound to make it easier to hear. Sorry for the inconvenience. I'm wondering, are their folks who are able to hear this tone? Just as an FYI, the tone is mixed in with the click of the number and is the sound of a coin flip. So it is very high pitched and sort of sounds like a little bell. Just curious who is able to hear this? Perhaps writing me off-list might be better so as not to create more traffic on the list for this particular question. caraqu...@caraquinn.com Thanks so much to All! Richard _ From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Cara Quinn Sent: Saturday, March 02, 2013 1:29 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: LookTel VO Tutorial Well, since I haven't seen this one chatted about here on the list, here goes. LookTel has just released, this week, a free app called Voiceover Tutorial. (VO Tutorial) It is a basic tutorial app for new iPhone / iPod users (soon to be on iPad) which teaches all of the necessary gestures so a user can then more easily navigate / investigate their device by themselves. The app also has two games in it. Basketball and Safe. Basketball allows the player to dribble the ball by flicking down and shooting by flicking up. The more you dribble the ball, the more likely you are to make a basket. This is meant to show the player the flick up / down gestures. This then leads to the Safe game, where the player places two fingers on the screen and turns their hand as if to turn a large knob. Voiceover announces numbers as the Safe's virtual dial turns and a sound is played at a particular number. The player then needs to flick up or down to enter that number into the combination lock. Once you enter three numbers successfully, the Safe opens. So, as you might guess, this teaches the rotor gesture. :) Rather than only being for beginning iOS users, all iPhone / iPod users might like this app just to have the games on their devices as quick lil' time wasters. :) We'll be updating this app extensively, and I've already got another game written to add. We'll eventually cover all Voiceover gestures and will have a directory-like system so a customer can immediately go straight to a lesson or game of their choice. Enjoy! Re: LookTel VO Tutorial
thanks Wendy and Richard for your compliments and feedback on this! We're most definitely interested in feedback from teachers and the general public as well! So your impressions mean a lot to us! :) Keep them coming! I'm heading over to AppleVis right now to catch the review! Thanks again and have a wonderful day / weekend! I’ll also be looking forward to the breadcrumbs app when it comes out. Looktel has been producing some great apps and I have no doubt they will continue to be excellent. So, as you might guess, this teaches the rotor gesture… :) Rather than only being for beginning iOS users, all iPhone / iPod users might like this app just to have the games on their devices as quick lil' time wasters. :) We'll be updating this app extensively, and I've already got another game written to add.
