Newest 3 iPhones, Radios and Modems

2018-09-13 Thread 'Dan' via VIPhone
Hello,
Does anyone know if all three iPhones have the same radios and modems no
matter where purchased?
In years past, there was a difference in modems for example between Verizon
and T-mobile.

I read an article somewhere in the tech press today, I can’t remember the
source, which said that the modem is the same in all models of iPhone X.

Re: Newest 3 iPhones, Radios and Modems

2018-09-13 Thread 'Dan' via VIPhone
Hello,
The different bands for cell service so that I can clearly decide what carrier
I want to use or to stay with my current carrier. In other words, I want to
purchace an iPhone that will work on any network where I decide to go. This is
also why I asked about the modems as well.

If you get it directly from apple, it will work with any carrier. The blurb I
read when setting up my iPhone upgrade program said, you will get a sim free
phone, with your carriers Simmcard. So that leads me to believe that all
phones are being made the same. I also read that t mobile and sprint are
taking advantage of there newly built service over the past year.

Re: Newest 3 iPhones, Radios and Modems

2018-09-13 Thread Kelly Pierce
We will only know for certain when the iPhones go on sale and the
carriers provide their specifications. for example, the iPhone 8 and X
sold by AT&T and T-Mobile did not work on Verizon. we do know that
they will support band 71 on T-Moble. this offers signals to travel
farther in rural areas and to penetrate buildings for urban users.

RE: Newest 3 iPhones, Radios and Modems

2018-09-13 Thread Mr. Ed
I don't believe this is correct. I got an6 iPhone for my wife about a year or
so that was used and bought from Verizon. I now have my wife's 6 on Consumer
Cellular and they are owned by AT&T. All iPhones can be used on any carrier. If
they tell you they won't work they are not telling you the truth as they are
trying to sell you a new iPhone.

We will only know for certain when the iPhones go on sale and the
carriers provide their specifications. for example, the iPhone 8 and X
sold by AT&T and T-Mobile did not work on Verizon. we do know that
they will support band 71 on T-Moble. this offers signals to travel
farther in rural areas and to penetrate buildings for urban users.

Re: Newest 3 iPhones, Radios and Modems

2018-09-14 Thread Jim Weiss
Buying an unlocked iPhone directly from Apple should allow you to connect and
move the phone between all of the US carriers. In the past moving a iPHone
between carriers was hit or miss. For example an iPHone 6S that you purchased
from Sprint could be moved to Verizon or AT&T, but moving it to T-Mobile could
result in spotty coverage. The iPhone 6S from Sprint was missing a few of the
LTE bands that T-Mobile uses on their network. An unlocked iPHone from Apple
contains everything it needs to connect to all of the carriers. I personally
think that carriers did this type of thing on purpose to make it even more
difficult to move to a new carrier. I am not sure if the FCC got involved
somewhere along the way, but the newer the phone the easier it seems to be able
to move across carriers.
