PBS app on AppleTV 4th gen
Hi, Are there problems with the PBS app on AppleTV 4th gen? I'm having a tough time, but it works fine for my sighted daughter when VoiceOver is off. Just wondering if it's me or the app. I can get around within the app, but fine control seems difficult, and items that should be in the MyVideos list just aren't, at least VoiceOver doesn't announce them regularly. I am running the gm and most things seem to be fine. Have not played with the high Sierra beta enough though, and I didn't put the tv os beta 4 on my tv but I will update tomorrow. RE: PBS app on AppleTV 4
All I can say is what I said for the last few years, don’t upgrade tomorrow or Wednesday. Wait a couple of days and check Applevis as well as what people here (those who inevitably will upgrade) have to say other than of course to ask how they can go back to iOS 10. It is my understanding that there are some significant issues in iOS 11, maybe they have mostly been ironed out in the GM, but I wouldn’t count onit. I am usually somebody who likes to live a bit on the risky side and I have had beta versions of iOS on my phone for years usually starting around late June or early July, but this year even I took a pass whenI heard on the beta list that I am on what some of the issues were. I have never used the Apple TV app for PBS. But on the regular PBS, I have also never heard audio description when there was simply something that was caption because it was in a foreign language. RE: Apple TV - Are PBS audio described shows available through the PBS app?
There is indeed a PBS channel for the Apple TV, but you’re going to find standard programming. The few times I checked it out, I didn’t come across anything really local. NO audio described either. Remember, you can also stream anything for your iOS device to the Apple TV as well in case you find more programming to your liking via the pBS iOS app or website in general. PBS app
It seems that the PBS app is less than fully accessible. Four instance, there does not seem to be a way to switch between different channels in your area to see the different schedules. There is a graphic you must tap on, and voiceover does not see his graphic. Has anyone found a workaround? I haven't found an address yet to whom to right to complain. It is ridiculous. There should be an easy fix for this, and, as a governmentfunded entity, you would think they would hold their developers to slightly higher standards than the average. Re: PBS APP
In the extreme left side on the upper portion of the screen are several icons grouped in a vertical manner. The second icon is where you can hear about local programming, the fourth one down is a favorites list that can be created and the fifth and last icon is where you create your profile and sign in. The search feature is on the upper right section of the screen and just to the right of the search function is the information button where you can email your feedback to pbs. I have not used the app much yet, but it seems a little slow when shifting fromone option to another, such as moving from a search to opiening the information section. Good luck!
