PBS app on AppleTV 4th gen

2018-01-11 Thread Kramlinger, Keith G., M.D.
Hi,

Are there problems with the PBS app on AppleTV 4th gen? I'm having a tough
time, but it works fine for my sighted daughter when VoiceOver is off. Just
wondering if it's me or the app.

I can get around within the app, but fine control seems difficult, and items
that should be in the MyVideos list just aren't, at least VoiceOver doesn't
announce them regularly.

Thanks in advance, Keith

I am running the gm and most things seem to be fine. Have not played
with the high Sierra beta enough though, and I didn't put the tv os
beta 4 on my tv but I will update tomorrow.

All I can say is what I said for the last few years, don’t upgrade tomorrow or
Wednesday. Wait a couple of days and check Applevis as well as what people here
(those who inevitably will upgrade) have to say other than of course to ask how
they can go back to iOS 10. It is my understanding that there are some
significant issues in iOS 11, maybe they have mostly been ironed out in the GM,
but I wouldn’t count onit. I am usually somebody who likes to live a bit on the
risky side and I have had beta versions of iOS on my phone for years usually
starting around late June or early July, but this year even I took a pass whenI
heard on the beta list that I am on what some of the issues were.

PBS app on AppleTV 4

2017-09-18 Thread Kramlinger, Keith G., M.D.
Hi,

I'm starting to watch the new Ken Burns series on Vietnam. There are a number
of interviews with Vietnamese which I'm sure are captioned. Wondering if these
may be available via Audio Description. I don't hear any AD, but thought I'd
check here to see if perhaps I'm missing it, although I'm pretty sure I have my
AppleTV set up correctly to play AD if available.

Can someone please confirm the presence or absence of AD on PBS shows, either
on the AppleTV 4 app or via PBS.org. I've tired that latter, too, but without
any luck finding AD.

Thanks in advance. Keith

RE: Apple TV - Are PBS audio described shows available through the PBS app?

2015-03-13 Thread Cristóbal
There is indeed a PBS channel for the Apple TV, but you’re going to find
standard programming. The few times I checked it out, I didn’t come across
anything really local. NO audio described either.

Remember, you can also stream anything for your iOS device to the Apple TV as
well in case you find more programming to your liking via the pBS iOS app or
website in general.

Hi,

I’m thinking about getting Apple TV.

Our local PBS station said PBS shows are available through the PBS appp on the
Apple TV.

Many PBS shows are audio described, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen an audio
described episode option from their website.

Does anyone know if there are audio described PBS shows for viewing and
listening on the PBS app within Apple TV?

Thanks, Keith

Ok, I think the US Public Broadcasting System app could use some accessibility
fixes. Video controls are really not accessible. Tapping random bits of the
screen with Voiceover off is not the best solution. I want to write to the devs
about this. I already used the report video problems form, but it doesn't
allow me to give contact info in case I want to give other feedback.

Anyone else have email or even know of a place in the app to accomplish this?

Thanks,
Teresa

PBS app

2014-12-30 Thread Mary Otten
It seems that the PBS app is less than fully accessible. Four instance, there
does not seem to be a way to switch between different channels in your area to
see the different schedules. There is a graphic you must tap on, and voiceover
does not see his graphic. Has anyone found a workaround? I haven't found an
address yet to whom to right to complain. It is ridiculous. There should be an
easy fix for this, and, as a governmentfunded entity, you would think they
would hold their developers to slightly higher standards than the average.

In the extreme left side on the upper portion of the screen are several
icons grouped in a vertical manner.
The second icon is where you can hear about local programming, the fourth
one down is a favorites list that can be created and the fifth and last
icon is where you create your profile and sign in. The search feature is on
the upper right section of the screen and just to the right of the search
