Re: Questions regarding email setup on iPhone 4S for new subscriber.

2012-11-18 Thread Christopher Chaltain
Did you get your email working the way you want Ed? Don't be confused by the
IMAP and Gmail points. As I and others have said, look at your settings and
see if you can change them to have the messages deleted from the server as soon
as they're downloaded.

Re: Questions regarding email setup on iPhone 4S for new subscriber.

2012-11-16 Thread Rob Harris
You already said you set delete to a day, so they'll be there at least that
long. YOu also set - when removed from inbox, so if they're still on the
iPhone, they'll still be on the server. Personally, I leave it this way,
never delete from the phone, I just login the PC's Outlook Express which
does download them and removes them, and that's that. They are then no
longer available to the iPhone though.

Re: Questions regarding email setup on iPhone 4S for new subscriber.

2012-11-15 Thread Christopher Chaltain
Sounds to me like it's working as expected given how you've set it up.
Looks like messages will be left on your server for one day after you
download them unless you delete them from your iPhone or move them into
another folder. Look to see if delete from server has an option like as
soon as downloaded or something like that.

If you have it set up for staying on the server for one day, and you get
your email on the phone during that day and happen to log in later on your
pc, then they will be there. But, if you wait until the next day, the
messages will be gone. That has been my experience.

Re: Questions regarding email setup on iPhone 4S for new subscriber.

2012-11-15 Thread Rebecca Ilniski
Hi Ed. Make sure imap is enabled and disable pop. That way if you
delete messages from the phone they will be deleted from the server and
the same holds true for the computer.

Questions regarding email setup on iPhone 4S for new subscriber.

2012-11-15 Thread Ed Barnes
Hi all.

I have a perplexing question regarding email setup on my new iPhone 4S which I
purchased a couple of weeks ago.

I have been able to setup my email with no problems, I can send and I can
receive with no problems, however; when my iPhone downloads the email it is not
deleting the messages from the pop server.

I setup my email as follows.

Settings.

Mail, contacts, calendars.

Add account.

Account name/description is edbar...@nf.sympatico.ca

I entered the pop and smtp servers, username, and password.

Then, I did the following.

Advanced button.

Remove is set to 1 day.

Delete from server is set to when removed from inbox.

However, if I download email messages unto my iPhone and then login to my
account from a pc the messages which are on the phone are still showing as
available for download unto a computer with an email client like ms outlook or
for viewing in a web browser.

I'd appreciate any thoughts/suggestions.

Thanks - Ed.
