Re: Any recommendations?
Do you have the 5000MA one or the 1MA one? I've heard from reviews of the 5000MA one, that your phone and the charger will get a little warm. I'd purchase the 1MA one when I can save up $80. RE: Any recommendations?
Everybody has their preference, I personally find a charging pad much more convenient, I have one at my desk at work, on my bedside table and in the living room and just putting the phone down on the charging pad to me is easier than having to grab a cable and plug it in. Then of course there is the fact that I still really like to use the wired Earpods and I couldn't use them if I had my phone plugged in to charge unless I buy one of these splitters which would mean another gadget which is sitting around and which ultimately ends up in the landfill because by all indications the iPhone 15 will have a USB-C port so at that point all the Lightning cables and such will start to become obsolede. I have an iPhone 11 and have no plans to upgrade until the earliest next year when the iPhone 15 will be released so I don't have MagSafe but if I were tempted to upgrade than it would also be to an iPhone 14 Pro because of LiDAR and MagSafe. My only complaint with wireless charging is that it is relatively easy to move the phone especially if I use my wired Earpods in the evening, not difficult to pull a bit on them and the phone is out of position to charge, MagSafe would prevent this since the phone is stuck on the charger. It would also be a lot easier to use an external battery with Magsafe technology, once again, it would leave the Lightning port available for a wired headset and I wouldn't need a cable to connect the phone to the battery. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com On Behalf Of Kelly Pierce Sent: Tuesday, October 4, 2022 7:08 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: Any recommendations? If I'm out and about, I'll take a portable power bank with me. I usually have my power banks in a case, so I have either a short lightning to USB cable, or short lightning to USBC cable to easily connect to my iPhone and the charging begins. It works very well for me. I do have a magsafe case, but I don't use it all that much because magsafe charging is way to slow for me, although it does work. But the Mag Safe is tied to a wall outlet. If you are looking for convenience, I have a dedicated wall charging block with a 10 foot USB to lightning cable attached to it. Thanks Kelly, I can understand your reservations. I thought about what you said but found the alternative very expensive. Buying MagSafe wireless power banks are very expensive. That is the only choice that does not tie you to a wall outlet as you charge your device. I was unimpressed with the mag safe technology. The charging pad still needs to be plugged in so I can just plug in my iPhone once a day. Also, I wanted a leather case and mag safe chargers make noticeable marks in the leather case, destroying its elegance. You know, I bought it last fall when I got my 13 pro; and I was at the Verizon store helping a friend sort out what she was going to upgrade to and they had them on sale ... I think it came with the charger, but I cannot swear to that as my friend bought it for me as a thank you for my help. She ended up getting a 12 pro and the same charger plus Airpods and the whole 9 yards. I am pretty sure the price included the charger. In any case, always ask before buying. I bought the Magsafe wireless charger made by Apple. I just have a very simple, clear, case. No screen protector. I think it was about $10. Re: Any recommendations?
Congratulations for your new iPhone! I don't have a link to a tutorial but can answer your questions 1. To answer siri you have to tap the listen button. Generally the focus of VoiceOver is there by default so you can just try double tapping anywhere on the screen. You can also just press the home or the remote button. It is noteworthy that if you interact with siri when vo is off she automatically goes to listen mode after asking you something. Also, many have reported an issue with screen locking prematurely when interacting with siri via remote button and thus terminating conversation. 2. Unfortunately when siri sense something, other than her assurance that she will do so there is no conformation sound. Some hit the home button immediately after she says she's sending it and get to hear the usual sending sounds. I just have faith in her after having experimented with checking my send messages. In the list archives there is a post about a good blog entry about what you can say to her.. Well, I’m happy to say that I have my new IPhone 5, and it is pretty cool, so far! I finally capitulated and went to the ICloud, and I’m glad I did, as it made data transfer smooth! Now, I need to know if there are any good recommendations of tutorials or books. I want to learn more about Siri, because right now, I can talk to her, but when she asks me questions, I don’t know how to answer her and have her listen to my answer. I also don’t know if she did what I asked her to do regarding things like emails and such. So, if there are any good Siri tutorials out there, let me know, please.
