Re: Discouraging News From The App Store
He's simply wrong about that guideline. Those guidelines are for third-party developers who submit apps to the App Store. Only that team will be able to ultimately make the final decision. Those guidelines are Apple telling developers what's expected of them on the App Store, Apple wouldn't write and publish guidelines for Apple themselves. In this case the support person is incorrect. I would think Voicedream has lawyers that reviewed the developer agreement at length. Re: Discouraging News From The App Store
Can’t speak for the Voice Dream team, but it’s usually a whole lot easier just to submit and let Apple approve or send back any changes that need to be made during the submission process. Hope this helps. Cheers! Cara > On Apr 1, 2024, at 4:56 PM, Dennis Long wrote: > > I would think Voicedream has lawyers that reviewed the developer agreement at > length. Re: Discouraging News From The App Store
Hi Dennis, They can just submit the update with previous functionality removed, see if Apple approves it, and if they don't approve it, the dev can just put back the functionality and resubmit it. I don't think this is an issue where the developer would need to consult a lawyer. There's no risk to them in just trying it out and see if Apple approves it. The guidelines are pretty clear to me, Apple says to please not disable previously purchased functionality. However, I think what might happen is the app will just fly under the radar if Apple's review team doesn't notice or doesn't think it's a huge deal. It's entirely possible Voice Dream's developers will be able to push this through regardless of what the guidelines on that page state.
