RE: Don't Forget About the Excellent Level App that is Part of iOS 16
Actually, level is part of the Measure app as Mark pointed out in his post. The Measure app could be in a folder called Utilities or it could be elsewhere depending on how you set up your phone and arrange your apps. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com On Behalf Of Carolyn Arnold Sent: Thursday, June 22, 2023 7:32 AM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: RE: Don't Forget About the Excellent Level App that is Part of iOS 16 Joshua, Level is in the Utility Folder. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Joshua Hendrickson Sent: Thursday, June 22, 2023 5:30 AM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: Don't Forget About the Excellent Level App that is Part of iOS 16 Where can I find the level app on my iPhone? The app is actually called Measure; there is a Level tab. Use this semi-frequently and it works quite well. Get a front loader, problem solved. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com On Behalf Of Alan Lemly Sent: Wednesday, June 21, 2023 10:19 AM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: RE: Don't Forget About the Excellent Level App that is Part of iOS 16 Mark, This was very interesting with excellent detail about the iOS Level app. I suspect that even with a perfectly level washer, you will experience occasions especially when laundering bed linens, blankets, and towels that they will get out of balance in your washer causing it to shake, rattle, and roll and necessitating that you simply open the lid and redistribute everything evenly. Of course, you are free to revisit the level project again if you have that time available. Alan Lemly -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com On Behalf Of M. Taylor Sent: Wednesday, June 21, 2023 5:01 AM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Don't Forget About the Excellent Level App that is Part of iOS 16 Hello Everyone, I have been meaning to post to the list for quite a while but time just keeps slipping away. Anyway, a while back, my top-loading washer began doing the walk of shame across the floor during the high-speed portion of the spin cycle. Now It was not doing this every spin cycle but only when I had the basket loaded with heavy bedding. Anyway, again with that time slipping away thing, I let it go on for far too long. Finally, one day, I decided to either resolve the problem on my own or hire someone to do it for me. Of course, I knew that the problem was that the machine needed to be leveled as it had been over 4 years since its installation into my home. The thing is, to the naked eye, the unit looked pretty much level; at least it did to all of the sighted people I consulted; not professionals, just friends. Finally, I remembered that my beloved 14 Pro Max has a native level app. I discovered that the laundry room floor dips off by about 1 degree as one approaches the center of the room. You really can't tell by standing on the floor because it only reaches that 1 degree at the very center. Anyway, after practicing with the level for a day or so with various surfaces around my house, one day I began leveling the washer, by myself; even though it is generally a 2-man job. With the help of the iOS level app, I was able to get the washing machine level after about 15 minutes or so. I was truly impressed at how sensitive the device was to even the slightest changes in a surface angle. After 15 minutes or so, I took my final measurements and the machine was perfectly level from every angle I could think of to measure. Now, even with the heaviest loads in the basket, the walk of shame has stopped. What a wonderful tool that helped me to get the job done right. The level app, found in the Measure app of iOS is always there when you need it; so take it for a quote, spin, quote, the next time you need to level up. Hi Mark, I guess I shouldn't be surprised. I obviously have old technology where my washing machine is concerned. Wow! What a wonderful use of the level app. Thank you so much for sharing this with us, Malcolm. Perhaps some of you will already know for the clock to continue to run it has to be vertical or it will stop between five to and the hour. The chins that are attached to the weights have to be exactly vertical. After some trial and error and not getting the clock to work I used the level on my iPhone to set it up. RE: Don't Forget About the Excellent Level App that is Part of iOS 16
Hello Alan, It is good to hear from you. Yes, I would have thought so, also but in 4 years, my washer has not required that I redistribute the load. This model has an amazing gyroscope built in to the basket. In fact, one reason why it took me so long to address the problem is because having to occasionally redistribute the load is a normal thing. Then, one day, it occurred to me that for the past 4 years, I had never had the occasion to redistribute anything. Since leveling the machine, I've done 10 full capacity loads and there isn't even the hint of having to redistribute anything. In fact, 2 days ago, when the machine finished, I opened the lid and noticed that the load had shifted and was not eveningly distributed. Regardless, the machine ran as smooth as Tupelo honey. That gyroscope is amazing. All it requires is that the physical frame be leveled. You know, since then, I've been using my iPhone 14 to randomly check the levels of everything around my house and I find that almost nothing in this place is level. Wow!!! I'm thinking that there is definitely such a thing as having too much information (smile).
