Re: Dropvox Recording Offline?

2017-02-17 Thread Alan Lemly
Fazil,

I'm not sure why you'd use Dropvox as your iPhone recorder if you don't want it
linked to Dropbox but I'm sure you have your reasons. My understanding is that
recordings you make with Dropvox are not uploaded to Dropbox and are kept on
your device until you have network access. If you're concerned about using
data, you should be able to adjust your Dropvox and Dropbox settings not to use
data so that only your WiFi connection is used. Also, Dropvox has a setting
from within the app to um link it from Dropbox but to me, this sort of defeats
its purpose.

Re: dropvox recorder

2016-07-02 Thread Monica Jones
Lol, Wayne, it's a great solution and one I should have thought of. But,
yeh, it might be six of one and half a dozen of the other except that I
don't have to keep changing who I can get calls from with Do Not Disturb.
Thank you.

Monica, you could also turn on airplane mode and then enable wifi.
This way, you would still be connected to wifi but any calls would not
come through. Notifications would still come through, so perhaps it is
6 of one, and half dozen of the other.

I'm really loving this app for those of you who have dropbox and are
looking for a very simple way to record and upload to dropbox. It's very
basic with very few options which I love. I have the high quality
setting turned on and the files are mp3 and not all that big. It doesn't
save these files to your phone, just uploads them directly to dropbox
for later retrieval. the only thing I wish it did was give you the
option to hold on to your files and not upload until your phone reaches
a wifi connection. I have T-mobile, so data isn't an issue for me. But
it could be a problem for those who have limited data. This app is
awesome for times when you need to quickly record something on the fly
and don't have time to save the file or rename it. If you're going to
record past your screen turning off, you'll need to enable background
recording so it wont stop recording. The app is only $1.99 which isn't
much in my opinion for all that it does. Also works nice with voiceover.

Re: dropvox recorder

2016-06-25 Thread rajmund

Hi,
The first will ask the app not to use it. Meaning, the APP won't
use mobile data. The other one, however, stops it. If you do
the second setting only, you should still be just fine.

Here is 2 settings that should turn off Dropvox from uploading
recordings using cellular data.

First, go to Settings / Dropvox, and it will say, allow Dropvox
to access, and Cell data is one of the choices. Just double tap
it to unselect it.
Next, go to Settings / Cellular, and after swiping down the
screen, you will hear, Use cellular data for, and you will find a
list of apps. Swipe down to Dropvox and double tap it to turn it
off.

Not sure if both settings are necessary, but wanted to tell you
about both.
Either way, this will stop Dropvox from using cell data to upload
your recordings.

Hope this helps,

Chris

If you have any other ideas it would be awesome.

There are lots of other recording apps out there. None are quite as slick at

record. How long a file do you need to record. The more we all know about
how you want to use a recorder app, the better we can help.

Sorry I don't have a better plan B.

Hey there,
Here's the issue. I'll launch the app, it'll stay open for about 1 to
3 seconds, and then seem to take me back to the page in my iphone
where the app is.
This makes no sense what so ever. Never seen this before.
So, here's what happens.
I launch the app, sometimes i can get to the record button in time to
hit it. It'll make the sound that it is recording. Then about 3
seconds later, it'll seem to dump out of the app.
When i go to the app switcher, and go back to dropvox, it doesn't seem
to be recording.
It almost seems to ahve a shutdown after about 3 seconds or so.
This makes no sense. Any ideas?

Seems to work as it always has. Do you have the latest update?

Having a very strange problem with dropvox, and i have no idea why.
I press the record button, and it makes the sound. I think i'm
recording, then when i go back in to the app from the action center,
and click on activate item, it activates for a bout 2 seconds, then
dumps

me out of it.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem.

Hey there,
Here's the issue. I'll launch the app, it'll stay open for about 1 to 3
seconds, and then seem to take me back to the page in my iphone where the app
is.
This makes no sense what so ever. Never seen this before.
So, here's what happens.
I launch the app, sometimes i can get to the record button in time to hit it.
It'll make the sound that it is recording. Then about 3 seconds later, it'll
seem to dump out of the app.
When i go to the app switcher, and go back to dropvox, it doesn't seem to be
recording.
It almost seems to ahve a shutdown after about 3 seconds or so.
This makes no sense. Any ideas?

RE: dropvox weirdness

2014-07-26 Thread Neal Ewers
Hi, I'm not sure if this app takes up space on the phone. It supposedly
sends the file directly to DropBox. Of course, what it does with the phones
internal memory before that is something I don't know. However, I have
another concern about using this for a long term recording, especially if
you do not have wireless. When I have tried to use it with 3g, it is very
much slower in the transfer. I would hate to see some of this very long file
be lost in transmission. Of course, it is likely not to happen, but it
could, I suppose.

HandiRec recorder does, I think, record in MP3. But you either have to send
it to the cloud or use iTunes to get it off your phone.

RE: dropvox weirdness

2014-07-25 Thread Neal Ewers
I was afraid you were going to ask for plan B. Were you having other
problems, I would begin to suspect a need to re-set the device, but if this
is the only thing hat works strangely, that's a lot of trouble for little or
possibly no change. I am also using the latest version and mine works very
nicely, so I'm not sure what to say. Perhaps a look through settings would
help, but if you have uninstalled and re-installed, I'm guessing the
settings are at their defaults and this should work.

There are lots of other recording apps out there. None are quite as slick at
getting into DropBox as this, but they work quite well. What do you normally
record. How long a file do you need to record. The more we all know about
how you want to use a recorder app, the better we can help.

Sorry I don't have a better plan B.

This makes no sense what so ever. Never seen this before.

When i go to the app switcher, and go back to dropvox, it doesn't seem

Re: dropvox weirdness

2014-07-25 Thread Joseph FreeTech
You might want to look at ClearRecord as plan B:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/clearrecord-premium-noise/id395704227?mt=8

App costs $1.

It will start recording immediately upon launching.

It will save all recordings to your iDevice's internal storage.

It can record in .wav format, which means the quality is actually quite good
but takes up lots of storage.

You can use iTunes to transfer recording from your iDevice to your hard
drive without the recording content going anywhere other than your hands
since who knows what happens to content uploaded to Dropbox. I don't like
that it appears you must give DropVox access to your Dropbox account.

After starting the recording, if you shut off your device, or if it shuts
off automatically, it will continue recording, so you can just begin
recording and let it do its thing for as long as you'd like. (I've only
tested for a few minutes so don't know what will happen after an extended
amount of time).

to turn off recordings you will have to go into the app once again and
double-tap the done button at bottom right hand corner to shut off the
recording.

You can now double-tap the list button to review all of your recordings.

Unload all from app switcher, fully restart your iDevice, then review your
settings within DropVox to make sure all is fine.

I will also add that DropVox will definitely save all recordings to one's
iDevice, so next time one syncs, all recordings will be saved to one's
computer.

In other words, for those with an iPod who are out and about and won't have
access to internet and Dropbox, if you have the need to record someone's
phone number or other important information simply go ahead and do so as the
information will stay on your iPod ready to sync to your computer. You can

when in church or somewhere you don't want it to it will, lol. that is a cool
 app.

Hi. you could find the record button then mute the speech with a 3 finger
double tap. or you could use a head set.

hth.

 Hi all,
For anyone using Dropvox as your recording app is there a way to keep it from
picking up VoiceOver when you're making a recording?
How would I need to set my iPhone 4s so that once the
recording starts I hear nothing from voiceover. If there's a way to do this,
then how would I stop the recording?
 Thanks,
 Stacey and GEB dog Chesley

HI. yes find the record button and mute the speech. then double tap the focus
should be on the record button and you should hear a beep when done double tap
again. that's the only way you will silence voice over I'm afraid.
