RE: Emergency Alerts - Any Way to Edit These?

2019-06-17 Thread sherrywells1157
Hello James,

How annoying it would be to get Amber alerts from a totally different part of
the world! Check settings / notifications, go to the very bottom of the list.
In the US, we have 2 entries under government alerts. One is Amber alert which
you can toggle on / off. The other is emergency alerts which is everything
else. Since you are getting alerts from the US, maybe these options will show
up for you. Hopefully you don't get weather alerts from the US too!

Luckily we in the US can turn Amber alerts off. I would certainly be of no
help there. If I was sighted, I would have the Amber alert on. I agree that
anyone who would call 911 to complain about an Amber alert is a selfish idiot.

RE: Emergency Alerts - Any Way to Edit These?

2019-06-16 Thread sherrywells1157
Thanks Kimberly, I don’t know how I missed this; just thought Zoom was my last
entry I guess. Unfortunately looks like this is all or nothing, no fine tuning.

Under settings, go into notifications and scroll all the way to the bottom.
There’s a heading that says something like government notifications and under
that you will see settings for amber alerts and emergency notifications. That’s
where you can turn those off.

Hello List,

We had some tornado warnings in my area & my phone dutifully blasted me with
an alert. At 4A M I got another alert but found it was for a flash flood.
There are some areas in my county where people would need this alert but I
do not need it in my downtown apartment building. Is there any way to
change something so that I get alerts for tornados & impending alien
invasions but not flash floods? Also, is there any way to change the alert
sound so it is not quite so loud? I looked through settings but could find
nothing. If it matters, I have a 5s IPhone.

Thanks,
Sherry Wells
