Hi if you would like to down grade your I device back to 7.12 from 8 can
you send the link on how to do this?

If this even can be done.
I have A friend who is having problems with 8 and would like to if they
can go back to 7.12.

So if you can help that would be great.

Hi,

To find the model number of your device without sighted help:

1. Navigate to settings general about.
2. Find the serial number and make a note of the last four characters.
3. Enter them on this http://www.everymac.com/ultimate-mac-lookup/
page. NB: the page is fairly cluttered, so I tend to just jump to the
first edit box by pressing e.
4. If the last 4 characters don't produce a result try the last 3 instead.

For example, if we enter dtd7 which is the last 4 characters of my
4S's serial number, we see:

Yes,
new softsware (and old software) will always have some bugs, but it is
definiterly true that iOS 8 at this point has more than we are used to.
It
is also true that a number of blind beta testers have let Apple know

some of the issues which were reported 3 months ago have not been fixed.

I hope people are not only complaining but do take the time to write to

RE: For People wanting to downgrade back to 7.1.2

2014-09-19 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Anthony,

In the case of iOS 8 I could think of quite a few reasons. If somebody is
not very tolerant when it comes to dealing with bugs and they rely heavily
on using a bluetooth keyboard for example this would be a valid reason. Yes,
new softsware (and old software) will always have some bugs, but it is
definiterly true that iOS 8 at this point has more than we are used to. It
is also true that a number of blind beta testers have let Apple know about
Voiceover related bugs as far back as June when the first beta came out and
some of the issues which were reported 3 months ago have not been fixed.

I hope people are not only complaining but do take the time to write to
accessibil...@apple.com to report bugs they encounter and that the increase
in these reports will finally put Apple into action and they will start to
fix the problems.

Sieghard

Re: For People wanting to downgrade back to 7.1.2

2014-09-19 Thread Ben Mustill-Rose

2014-09-19 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Ben,

I learned something today. That's pretty cool and I bookmarked that site
because now I'll never need anybody to look this up for me again. I can always
get to my serial number and now with that and the help of that site I can find
the model number.

Showing 1 - 1 of 1
 iPhone 4S (4s*)
800 MHz* Apple A5
Intro Date:
October 4, 2011*
Disc Date:

Order No:

Subfamily:

Model ID:
iPhone4,1
Std RAM:

Std VRAM:

 Yes,
new softsware (and old software) will always have some bugs, but it is
definiterly true that iOS 8 at this point has more than we are used to.
 It
is also true that a number of blind beta testers have let Apple know
 about
Voiceover related bugs as far back as June when the first beta came out
 and
some of the issues which were reported 3 months ago have not been fixed.

I hope people are not only complaining but do take the time to write to

in these reports will finally put Apple into action and they will start
 to

For those who are having serious issues with the new 8.0 firmware, I found
this information that may be helpful. I have not done this myself so have no
idea if it works or not. Just passing it on.

Downgrade from iOS 8 to iOS 7.1.2

If you had accidentally upgraded your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to iOS 8 or
don't like it or are finding performance issues on older iOS devices and
want to downgrade back to iOS 7.1.2, then the good news is that you can
downgrade as Apple seems to be still signing the iOS 7.1.2 firmware file.
Important points to note:
. You will be able to downgrade back only to iOS 7.1.2 . It is important to
take a backup of your iOS device to iCloud or using iTunes.
. Please note that when you downgrade back to iOS 7.1.2, you will be able to
restore back to iOS 7.x.x compatible backup and not the iOS 8 backup to
avoid compatibility issues.
. Apple doesn't recommend downgrading so please proceed at your own risk.
Please follow these simple instructions to downgrade to iOS 7.1.2:
. Download the appropriate iOS 7.1.2 firmware file for your device . Connect
the device running iOS 8 to your computer.
. Launch iTunes and select the iOS device from the top right corner, to the
left of the iTunes Store button.
. Hold the Alt/Option key in Mac or Shift Key in Windows on your keyboard
and click on the Restore iPhone/iPad/iPod touch button in iTunes. Important
please read: Alternatively, you can also click on the Check for Update
option, instead of restoring. We were able to successfully downgrade from
iOS 8 to iOS 7.1.2 using this step, but we are not sure what issue it can
have on the data. So it is probably a good idea to use the Restore method,
though it will be more time consuming. If you iTunes - Check for Update . If
you've Find My iPhone enabled then it will prompt you to turn it off before
restoring your iPhone/iPad or iPod touch.
. Select the ipsw file you had downloaded earlier.
. iTunes will inform that it will erase and restore your iOS device to iOS
7.1.2 and will verify the restore with Apple.
. Click Restore.
. iTunes should now restore your iOS device to iOS 7.1.2.
. After a restore, the iOS device will restart. You should then see Slide
to set up. Follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant.
. You can then restore your device from a backup if required.
That's it. You should now be successfully downgraded to iOS 7.1.2. It may
prompt you to activate your device.
Please note that Apple can stop signing iOS 7.1.2 firmware files any moment
so downgrade back to iOS 7.1.2 as soon as possible. You won't be able to
downgrade back to iOS 7.1.2 once Apple stops signing the firmware file.
