RE: Go Payment, I'm desperate!

2012-11-16 Thread Kim

Hi Seighard and thanks so much.

I followed your steps and it went exactly like you said it would.
But...as soon as I lauched the Go Paymend app everything went
silent. Clearly this is an app issue and not a card reader
issue. Looks like I'll just have to wait for the fix, but it
wasn't for lack of trying.

Thank you again.

Kim

Hi Kim,

First of all, I seem to remember that not all headphone splitters

are
created equal so there may very well be some out there that would

work for
you, but as I said, I am not sure. I actually just saw one today

in an email
from NCIX.com, it's one from Monster and it's not cheap at

$24.95, vut it
states specifically it works for iPhones, iPads etc. and it even

has

independent volume controls for the 2 ports.

Now, as for Bluetooth, I just tried this with my stereo bluetooth

headset
and the wired earpods. I have never used the Go Payments card

reader, but I
don't see why it should be different as it's all a matter of

priority. So,

here is what I just did:

1. I turned on Bluetooth.
2. I started playing an audio book in the Audible app on speaker.
3. I turned on my bluetooth headset which had already been paired

with my
iPhone. After a moment the audio switched from the external

speaker to the
bluetooth headset. This is automatic and should work like that

with your

bluetooth headset.
4. I then plugged in my wired earpods which should mimic you

plugging in
your Go Payment card reader. As expected the audio stopped on my

bluetooth
headset and it switched back to the wired earpods, in your case I

am not
sure where the audio actually goes, but plugging in the card

reader into the

headphone jack does stop your audio, right?
5. I now turned my bluetooth headset off by holding the on/off

button until

it turned off. My audio continued to play on the earpod.
6. I waited a few seconds and turned my bluetooth headset back

on. I did
this while the audio book was playing on the earpods and I did

not unplug
them. Once my bluetooth headset turned on it took a second or 2

and the

audio automatically switched back to the bluetooth headset.

If this works the same way with the Go Payment card reader it

means that you
should be able to get Voiceover back to the bluetooth headset

this way. Once

again to sum it up:

1. Make sure bluetooth is on and turn on your headset so

Voiceover speaks on

the headset.
2. Plug in your card reader
3. Turn off your headset.
4. wait a few seconds and turn your bluetooth headset back on,

Voiceover

should be back on bluetooth.

Good luck, let me know if it worked.

Regards,
Sieghard

RE: Go Payment, I'm desperate!

2012-11-16 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Kim,

Did you try to turn off your Bluetooth headset again after you launched the
app and then turn it on again?

It seems to me that 2 things happen: First, audio is routed to the headphone
jack as soon as you plug in the Go Payment Reader which of course is normal
behavior. I guess you might want to report this to Apple because I wonder if
they couldn't add a setting in accessibility which would allow one to force
Voiceover to go via a certain output method since there is a setting
somewhere in the Settings where you can do this for phone calls. Secondly,
it appears that after you plug in the card reader, turn your headset off and
on again you get Voiceover, but then when you launch the app it again grabs
the audio. I wonder if once again turning off and on the headset will route
it back to bluetooth.

The other thing you could do is try and launch the app after you plug in the
reader. I mean plug in the reader, launch the app first and then turn off
your bluetooth headset and turn it back on. If you have SIRI you could
probably successfully launch the Go Reader app by using SIRI even if you
don't have sound, just push and hold the home button for 2 seconds or so,
then say Launch Go Payment. Of course you have to call it by its correct
name, I don't use it so I don't know what the app is called exactly. Anyhow,
give it a try and let me know.

Sieghard
