2019-09-18 Thread Nimer Jaber
Hello,

You may be hearing 5G E. This is a change that AT&T has made for phones to
let them know that they are connecting to a bit of a faster network. It is
not 5G, it is still LTE, but it is LTE advanced with a new name.

Thanks.

Re: New Member, and a Question

2019-09-18 Thread Wayne Merritt
I have a new iPhone XR and I have noticed it say 5G. I know the iPhone
cannot support 5G yet, and according to Apple Accessibility, it is
saying the strength of the nearby network. However, it was different.
I had an issue yesterday where the SIM card was out of place and my
status bar said, "Cellular, no signal". Once I got it fixed, I found
several messages and a couple of voicemails that I had missed.

While LTE may not be present, another indicator might be, such as 3g
or 4g. LTE is the name for the best wireless connection technology
available today. If you have something else displayed, like 4g, 3g or
2g, you are not connecting to the network at the highest connection
speed available.

Re: New Member, and a Question

2019-09-17 Thread Holly

Hi Rebecca:

Here is the explanation of LTE.

This week: “What does LTE mean on my phone, and why is it important when
using data?”

Smartphone apps and features like email, maps, and Internet browsing rely on
sending and receiving data across a cellular provider’s network. When
describing
cellular networks, you’ll commonly hear the terms 3G, 4G, and LTE. This
identifies the generation of network technology: 3G, or the third
generation network,

was developed before 4G.

After that, LTE data was introduced. LTE stands for Long Term Evolution, and
currently 4G LTE is the most advanced option available. When your phone is
connected to 4G LTE, you’re getting the maximum data speed possible with
your service, giving you superior download speeds and performance
capability.

Older cellphone models may not support newer data network technology, so it’s
important to select a model that supports a data speed that works for your

needs.

Re: New Member, and a Question

2019-09-17 Thread Rebecca Degeorge
as I said in my previous message, I use straight talk, and have very good
reception. What I was asking about was what is LTE? That used to show on my
phone when I lived in Illinois, but now I’m in California, and that doesn’t
come up. I wonder what it meant. Thanks.
