Sieghard,
Several reasons. The biggest is space. I currently have a 128 gig
iPhone 7, and have used just under half the space. I don't want to pay
a premium price for the 256 gig phone when I know I won't use all that
space. If Apple had kept the 128 gig size, I'm still not sure I would
upgrade. I can think of other reasons too, such as the wireless
charging. True, the 8 can be wirelessly charged, but you have to buy
the charger extra. I understand they aren't ready from Apple, but it
seems cheap to sell me an expensive phone without the fancy accessory.
Also, there's not much that really jumps out at me about the new
iPhone 8. This way, I can get the 7 Plus tomorrow and save a little
money on my monthly payment, verses waiting an untold amount of time
to get the new thing that everyone will want. There is also the issue
of the monthly payments though. On AT, the currently monthly payment
for the 7 Plus is $32. Whenever that is reduced because it is the old
phone, it will be even less. Verses the new iPhone 8 Plus, which is
$45 per month.

Really, you are changing from a 7 to a 7 Plus? Why not at least get the 8 Plus 
if you really do want to upgrade for battery life, at least then you have 
wireless charging and you can charge your phone while using a headset without 
having to use a splitter and all that.

256 model is definitely more than I paid last year for 128. I can't remember 
the numbers naturally. But it is more, and not just 10 bucks more either.

Everybody is different, I don't even bother transferring any music to my phone 
any more unless I really wanted some during a long flight when I usually listen 
to an audio book. Otherwise I have Apple Music and I have 6 Gb of data included 
in my plan so whenever I want to listen to anything I just tell SIRI what it is 
or find something and stream it.

Well, as a blind person, I could easily fill up 256GB with music, and have 
quite a bit of music left over. The Music folder on my laptop, which contains 
multiple folders inside it, currently takes up 369GB. I have an iPad Mini 4 
with 128GB on it, and I'd love to have 256, or even 512GB. I would also love it 
if I could use SD cards or something like that, but as it is, I have to 
transfer selected portions of music instead of all of it. The more memory the 
better!
Of course, that assumes that I can afford 512GB of solid storage, which I can't 
right now, even if I had the option, and my iPad is only a year and a half old, 
so I have no desire to replace it yet. But when the time comes, I'll get all 
the memory I can afford; unless, of course, I switch to Android by then, in 
which case, I won't need all the onboard memory I can afford because I'll be 
able to pop SD cards in and out.

Well, as a blind person, I could easily fill up 256GB with music, and have 
quite a bit of music left over. The Music folder on my laptop, which 
contains multiple folders inside it, currently takes up 369GB. I have an 
iPad Mini 4 with 128GB on it, and I'd love to have 256, or even 512GB. I 
would also love it if I could use SD cards or something like that, but as it 
is, I have to transfer selected portions of music instead of all of it. The 
more memory the better!
Of course, that assumes that I can afford 512GB of solid storage, which I 
can't right now, even if I had the option, and my iPad is only a year and a 
half old, so I have no desire to replace it yet. But when the time comes, 
I'll get all the memory I can afford; unless, of course, I switch to Android 
by then, in which case, I won't need all the onboard memory I can afford 
because I'll be able to pop SD cards in and out.

It is exactly the same as the 6 Plus, 6S Plus and 7 Plus, no, I don't think 
it's that easy to handle/operate it with one hand unless you have very large 
hands and long fingers.
