Re: Problem with list archives in Google Groups

2012-10-01 Thread Christopher Chaltain
Ah, I see. I didn't see any of that in your original email. Do you have
images turned off by any chance? I've seen web sites in the past display
similar messages when they thought you were coming in with a text based
browser. Also, isn't IE9 out? Could it be that Google Groups takes
advantage of some features in the latest IE, Firefox and Chrome that IE8
may not have? BTW, I am running the latest Firefox and Chrome, and I
haven't come across this message in either browser.

Also, since Google does develop it's own browser, I wouldn't put it past
them to recommend that browser over the alternatives. I also wouldn't
begrudge them if they choose to do most of their testing with Chrome
instead of IE or another browser.

Hello. I use Window-Eyes and the way I do it is by making sure I am out of
browse mode. Then I tab until I hear settings context menu. I press the ospace
n it and a menu opens up and then I press down arrow to settings and press
enter.

I'll answer my own question- Yes, it worked to paste the list archive page
in the address bar after signing into GMail. Yeah!

So after you sign into Gmail, can you put the list address in the address
bar and still be in html when you land in Google Groups?

The new GG page has those links that JAWS does not detect as links and even
when I routed JAWS to them and clicked, I could never tell if I made any
lasting changes. Even when I eventually succeeded in bringing up a "revert
to old GG" link, it seemed to be unresponsive to any keystroke combination I
tried. And when the "Settings Button" finally drifted through the fog, it
did not respond like a normal button either. When I finally got the Settings
menu to drop down, I changed that setting but it has reverted to the New GG
again today. When that message is flashing, it seems to take focus away from
anything else. What a royal pain!

RE: Problem with list archives in Google Groups

2012-09-29 Thread Kramlinger, Keith G., M.D.
How does one select basic html? From the Google home page, I could find neither
term-basic or html-in headings? Nor from the Groups page, nor from the New
Google Groups page.

To find the settings menu with Google and a screen reader, you have to select
basic html. Then, settings shows up as a link.

Richard

'Google Groups is trying to force everyone to use Google Chrome. On the VIPhone
list, you get the following message; but I can't find the 'Settings menu' they
are describing. Can anyone help?
Cher
