RE: Question About the Newer Phones

2020-08-28 Thread chaffin102468
A couple of things:

When taking a picture, instead of trying to tap on the button on the screen,
after starting the camera app, you can take a picture by just pressing the down
volume button.

I have never used this myself, but there is a setting where you can adjust how
long you have to touch the screen before it recognizes it. Maybe someone else
might know more about this setting.

Go to Settings, Accessibility, Touch.
Swipe until you get to Touch accommodations and double tap.
If this setting is turned on, there is a hold duration setting on this screen
plus more.
It looks like the default touch duration is 0.1 seconds.
Again, I just found this by looking around in the settings, so I do not know
how it might change any other settings like for voice over.

Hope this helps.

Chris

She says tap to wake is off and she is still having trouble. She says this:
What happens is if I touch the corners for example when taking a picture it
will open multiple screens all at once that I have to close again to take the
picture . It happens from touching the corners or if I’m texting and I go to
hit the space bar and hit just below it will close it down which that part is
because of the touch on the bar. It’s just irritating. Not really sure why it
closes down when taking pictures but it makes me miss shots all the time. It’s
not the tap to wake button. I do have that off.

2020-08-27 Thread Richard Turner
If she is using a phone without a home button, and writing text messages, she
may want to remove the extra apps from showing up at thebottom of the text
message.
To the left of the area where you write your text message is a button labeled
Apps Visible. Double tap that, and it will change to Apps invisible and the
extra apps at the bottom which she is probably activating by mistake will be
gone.

When taking a picture, you can use either of the volume buttons as shutter
buttons. Press it and the camera will take a picture. Much better than trying
to tap on the take picture button on the screen.

Tap to wake is designed to wake the phone up if you tap the screen, which may

If you don't have Raise to Wake on, it can be very useful when trying to unlock

There is a difference Raise to wake is in Display and Brightness, or whatever
that Display one is called. Tap to Wake is in Accessibilities.

If you have a newer phone without a Home button, then tap to wake will wake the
screen each time you touch it, which can be annoying especially if the phone is
in your pocket. Not sure if it is on older phones like the 7 or 8. I suppose
some may want to see their notifications by touching their phone screen but I
don't need that, and it can drain the battery with constant triggers.

RE: Question About the Newer Phones

2020-08-27 Thread Richard Turner
Newer phones with no home button have both Raise to Wake under Display and
Brightness settings, and Tap To Wake under Accessibility Touch settings.
Raise to wake works the same as it always has, if you move the phone, it wakes
up. Not a good thing to have on if you carry the phone in a purse or pocket
where it will be in motion. Waste of battery in my view.

Tap to wake is designed to wake the phone up if you tap the screen, which may
or may not be a handy setting.
If you don't have Raise to Wake on, it can be very useful when trying to unlock
the phone and use Face ID.

Re: Question About the Newer Phones

2020-08-27 Thread Wayne Merritt
If you have a newer phone without a Home button, then tap to wake will
wake the screen each time you touch it, which can be annoying
especially if the phone is in your pocket. Not sure if it is on older
phones like the 7 or 8. I suppose some may want to see their
notifications by touching their phone screen but I don't need that,
and it can drain the battery with constant triggers.

Yes. On the newer iPhone 10 and 11 series, there is a setting called Tap to
Wake. Go to settings, Accessibility, Touch, and there will be a toggle for Tap
to Wake further down the screen. This drove me crazy when I first got my 10R,
and I called Apple Accessibility to learn how to fix it.

Re: Question About the Newer Phones

2020-08-27 Thread Wayne Merritt
Yes. On the newer iPhone 10 and 11 series, there is a setting called
Tap to Wake. Go to settings, Accessibility, Touch, and there will be a
toggle for Tap to Wake further down the screen. This drove me crazy
when I first got my 10R, and I called Apple Accessibility to learn how
to fix it.

Be well,
Wayne Merritt
