After agreeing to the license terms it sat there for a few seconds saying requesting update, then it started the download maybe 20 seconds before the clock on my PC jumped to 12:45 PM. I guess it's nice to have a fibre connection with 125 Mb download as the actual download was done in just over 3 minutes at 12:47. The phone then restarted and just a

Hello Keith, It used to be true, but with its latest update, iTunes has stopped having an app store, and even when you restore from an iTunes backup, the apps are downloaded from the Internet rather than loaded from your computer. As a result, restoring from a backup isn't likely to be much faster than restoring from iCloud. Also, Johnathan Mosen in his ios 11 book says that nowadays there is little advantage in iTunes encrypted backups compared with iCloud backups so long as you use Keychain. Is this correct?
