Re: heart rate monitors
I have one called Instant Heart Rate Free, which may be similar or the same as the one that Andy mentioned. I haven't used it in a few years and do not recall how accessible it is. When I do need to use it, I typically will put a finger on the camera lens, open the app, and wait until it takes my heart rate. It will then ask me what time of day or what kind of activities I have been doing, like sleeping, working out, after a meal, etc. I can then double tap on the item I want and the rate and activity are recorded, and I believe that information is also shared with the Health app. While it is taking the heart rate initially, you will hear beeps which match your beats per minute. One of these days I want to get an Apple Watch and have a monitor on my rist, but those things cost money and that's something that is in short supply for me right now. RE: Heart Rate monitors
Hi Andy. Thanks for the suggestion. I don't think this will work too well for me as what I'm looking for is an app and heart rate monitor that will give me reading while I'm working out on a tread mill. I'm looking for a chest strap type monitor that is constantly getting your heart beat, realtime and reports that info while you are excersizing. Re: Heart Rate monitors
I know of one called the Helo, it uses your finger against a sensor on the monitor itself for the pulse and will read heart rate, blood pressure and breath rate. The 3 buttons that do the readings are not labeled but all the results are. Let me know off list if you want more information. aeda...@gmail.com Aedan On 18/08/2016 5:28 PM, Rick Alfaro wrote: Hi. Re: Heart Rate monitors
I would suggest the Polar H7 sensor... the app that comes with the product is barely accessible but you can use other appes if you need more features. For me, the native app is enough for my needs. Regarding the apps that monitor the rate trought the finger... well its ok if you need just to know ina certain moment what is your rate, but not for following a training session. Re: Heart Rate Monitors and other health/fitness stuff
charge hr is much better than flex in monitoring your sleep. From: Lois Butterfield Sent: Friday, July 17, 2015 2:40 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: Heart Rate Monitors and other health/fitness stuff Hi Seigard, I have had great luck with FitBit. They now have the Charge HR, which is a fitness watch with heart rate monitoring. I don’t happen to have it because I got the apple watch. I do, however, love my Flex and the Aria scale, both of which sync with my phone well and easily. I would assume that the Charge HR would also do that. I read up some on it. It syncs with Run Keeper and other apps and checks your heart rate every second while in a workout. I know that there are graphs involved that would not work but that would be true of most apps. Take care, Lois From: Jeff Clark Sent: Friday, July 17, 2015 8:19 AM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: RE: Heart Rate Monitors and other health/fitness stuff Sieghard, I was in your dilemma about 4 weeks ago and found pretty good luck with the following setup. Polar H7 using the Runkeeper app. The Runkeeper app has some Voiceover issues when I first entered my height/weight etc., but I didn’t enter my info during the initial setup and modified it after setting up the app. Other than that, the app runs pretty good. If you want current pulse and aerobic info there is a GPS button on the screen that you click into to get the self-voicing info. Both my wife and I are using this setup with success. Another tip is to ensure rinsing the Polar monitor contacts both on the strap and unit to ensure a good contact. Keep the contacts moist or it will not transmit to Runkeeper. You may have to play around a little to get the right moisture levels. I just take the strap, run it under the sink for a second and good to go. Yes, it’s a little cold when you put the strap on. Re: Heart Rate Monitors and other health/fitness stuff
Hi Seigard, I have had great luck with FitBit. LOL Hope this helps and contact me with any further questions. I am considering the Polar H7 or Wahoo Tickr or Wahoo Tickr Run. Both have their own apps but also work with over 50 third-party apps including Runkeeper and Runtastic. In addition to hardware feedback on the actual HRM I am interested to hear about accessibility of the various apps people use. Also, I am interested in the same information regarding wireless blood pressure monitors and body scales. Re: Heart Rate Monitors and other health/fitness stuff
I would doubt if any fitness watches have that. I used to have a chest strap type that did give audible feedback through ear phones. It’s been so long that I don’t remember the name of it. Maybe that will be a feature that will come along with the Apple watch someday to headphones via Bluetooth.
