no, it is not true. I have restore, two times my iPhone to factory settings, and it is the same thing. Re: iOS 7 and iPhone 4
I believe Apple will soon fix IOS-7 as I have found about 3 people who are sighted, have a 4 or 4s and hate the look and the way IOS-7 works. Apple is going to fix, just like the exchanges for health care. I just wish if a new program is launched that the IT people and others involved in designing and launching would really take a look at programs from the least techie point of view. Companies, government, etc. think they are improving when most of the original is fine. I persnally have had no problems with IOS-7 that make me wish to throw it out a window, but Apple had a good product without the major changes that seem to be making some cringe, and I am afraid Apple is going to lose on this one. People don't have money enough to upgrade every year, and when someone is forced to change just because they want you to, it just fuels resentment. reggie and Allegra On Oct 11, 2013, at 3:28 AM, Chris H christopher...@gmail.com wrote: Yes. Re: iOS 7 and iPhone 4
I'm not saying Apple won't make some changes to the IOS 7 interface, but I doubt they'll retreat from it entirely. IOS has gotten quite a few complaints recently for having such a dated look and feel, a look and feel that hasn't changed much in over five years. They specifically hired someone to lead up their interface design team and give IOS a flatter look and feel to it, more in line with where Android and other mobile interfaces are going. I doubt they'd make such a change and investment if they weren't committed to it. Also, just like with any change, there will be some loud detractors who don't like the new interface. This may just be a loud minority though, and may not represent the opinions of most iPhone users. I'm sure Apple is looking at all of the data, and like I said, I'm sure they'll make some changes, maybe some additional configuration options, but I doubt they'll just roll the interface back to IOS 6. Finally, upgrading IOS on your phone doesn't cost anything, and Apple goes out of it's way to ensure older models are still supported. In this way, Apple does more than most companies in keeping people from having to upgrade every year. RE: iOS 7 and iPhone 4
Hi Christoper and Reggie, Exactly right, Christopher. Reggie says she knows 3 people who hate the look of iOS 7, well, I know at least 5 friends and family some of which still have an iPhone 4 and they really like it. As with everything, you get to hear negative comments a lot more than positive ones. I have a retail store and I wish that as many people came back to tell me that they are happy with a particular product they bought or with the service they received as we have people coming in if something goes wrong with a product or maybe one of my employees or I forgot to check something for a customer, to call them back or to give them their money back for something they bought 2 months ago and which they decided they suddenly don't want. I think when I was at university and took my marketing and retail courses a long time ago they said a customer was 9 times as likely to repeat a negative view/opinion than a positive one. As for iOS 7 Apple will most definitely fix bugs, tweek the look of it and make changes where they feel changes need to be made, but they won't most definitely not do a 180 and make it look the way it did before. I am not saying Apple does everything right all the time, Apple Maps and whatever they had before iCloud (can't remember the name) are 2 examples where they put out products/services which didn't just work, but they do their best to fix it and there is no other platform which gets updates as frequently and for as many users. Check how many Android users have the latest version of Android and you know what I mean. Windows Phone is somewhat better than Android as far as getting updates out to users, but not much point in getting into that too deeply on a list where nobody can use it because it has no accessibility. RE: iOS 7 and iPhone 4
Hi Chris, I don't have this issue and it almost sounds like if you are in an iMessage conversation and it suddenly reverts to SMS that one of the parties might be temporarily losing their WiFi or data connection since iMessage only works on WiFi or 3G/LTE. If there is a drop-out it will revert to SMS if you selected to do that in Settings, if not it will just fail to send/deliver. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Chris H Sent: Friday, October 11, 2013 12:29 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: iOS 7 and iPhone 4 It's hard to describe but basically on a 4s at least, iMessage works for a while, then randomly quits until you power off and back on the device. Re: iOS 7 on iPhone 4
Oh, good. iOS 6 runs pretty okay on my 4S here, although when going to the home screen from an app, it often takes a few seconds for voice over to read an icon that I touch. I'm a bit hyper fanatic about closing apps periodically, so I don't think I'll have an issue where I have say, 50 apps open all at once, or something. Re: iOS 7 on iPhone 4
I'm at 96 percent of the ios 7 download and I'm installing it on my iPhone 4. Sense I plan on getting the 5s asap, it will kind of give me a heads up. That thing about it running slow on the iPhone 4 was based on a beta version and not the final production version but as I say, it won't matter to me as I'm going from the 4 to the 5s anyway. Yea I'm up to 97 percent downloaded. The download size is almost 700 mb. --- Regards, Alan Go Chicago Bears in 2013! Teenagers; Tired of being harassed by your stupid parents? Act now! Move out. Re: iOS 7 on iPhone 4
Hi list, I am having a problem installing IOS 7 on my Iphone 4. I have IOS downloaded on my iphone and in settings it says one new item. When I click on instal and accept the terms of use, it says something like verifying and after a minute or two I get error saying that update is not available at the moment. Re: iOS 7 on iPhone 4
I think that's just a matter of the servers being overloaded, both downloading and verifying the update. The download took quite a while and my iPhone 4 took an incredibly long time to actually install the update, but it's up and running now. Make no mistake, it is slower, but new features like control center, particularly the ease in switching between and closing apps works as advertised. If you plan on upgrading to a 5s soon, I'd say it wouldn't hurt to upgrade the 4 and play with the new features. If you're holding off on the purchase for a while though, I'd think twice as I could easily see getting frustrated by the lag. RE: iOS 7 on iPhone 4
Hi Jonathan, I honestly can't say that it is sluggish on my 4S apart from boot up time being about 10 seconds or so more and apps take just a half second or so longer to open, but typing, swiping and other navigating I find is just as good on my 4S as it was with iOS 6. I have been running iOS 7 Beta for about a month and Gold Master (same as the public release) since last week so it's not just a few hours of playing around with it, either. Rob from the Today in iOS Podcast claims that running iOS 7 Beta on his old iPhone 4 almost since the start was a good experience. Maybe if somebody experiences sluggishness a factory restore might help.
