I think she means when you have to choose from a menu: 1 for this and 2 for
that., but yes, that comma for extensions is mighty handy.

If they are the same numbers every time (like an extension), you can
place commas or semicolons in the contact. The commas will pause for a
few seconds then dial the next set of numbers.

Re: making a phone call working with an automated system

2012-06-22 Thread Christina
Thanks so much. I am doing something wrong though. I am not getting a prompt
to double tap or anything. In my contacts, I entered the complete number
followed by a comma, then a one, then a semicolon, then my string of numbers.
I did not insert any spaces. When I try to make the phone call, the call is
connected, there is a pause, then the iPhone dials one and then I get nothing
after that. I tried a one finger double tap in the middle of the screen but
nothing seems to happen.

Thanks for any further tips, I appreciate it.

Re: making a phone call working with an automated system

2012-06-22 Thread Sharonda Greenlaw
it's because you have to hide your keypad in order to see the prompt
to enter the numbers after the semicolon. Without hiding your keypad,
you will not see this prompt. The prompt can then be found at the
lower right of your phone. HTH, Sharonda

RE: making a phone call working with an automated system

2012-06-21 Thread Thom
A while ago there was a post on the list about using automated response
units. If the things you need to input are the same each time, you can do
the following:
In the phone number field put the phone number then a semicolon, then the
next set of numbers... And continue this .
I used it for my bank where I need the phone number, account number, social
security number. The phone prompts me each time the next set of numbers is
needed.
