RE: net flix

2019-02-11 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I don’t know if that is different here in Canada, but movies with audio
descriptions on iTunes are few and far between. My wife and I often look and
look to find something which has audio descriptions and there are all these new
movies which come out and which seem not to have audio descriptions, one
example is the newest Indiana Jones movie let alone all the old ones. The fact
is that I know they are described since I used to have them on video tape back
in the 90’s with descriptions. Netflix is probably the best when it comes to
putting audio descriptions on new content although we were just looking at a
movie called Wind River which shows up if I tap on movies and filter for audio
described, but when I play it there are no descriptions and no option to turn
them on.
Just because a few movies come out with audio descriptions does not mean one
can’t be critical and wonder why not every single movie or TV show that is
produced has them, after all, everything has closed captioning and that has
been so for a very long time.

Personally, I am very appreciative of the movies and TV series which I can now
get with Audio description. This was so limited just a few years back and I
would think it pretty involved to get the additional sound track for this
service.
My local movie theater now has AD for all movies and the headphones to access
it so I can now enjoy going to the movies without having anyone try to help me
follow the story. Why can’t we all just be appreciative for the many
improvements made for a very minority group?
Lately all the movies I have purchased from Apple are described, all Netflix
originals are described and Blind Mice Mega Mall has a large collection of
sound tracks in MP3 format.
In addition we have a plethora of audio books to enjoy.

Richard.

I'm using version 11.19.0 and I do not get the results you do.

Yes, this does bring up a few movies, and there is a button for more
Audio Description in English under the Explore more heading. But there
are only four pages of listings, scrolling down does nothing to pull up
more results.  I know from past searches in earlier versions there are
dozens of pages of described material.

At this point i have to say that the app is not a reliable way of
looking for DVS material The web site, while it can be cluttered for
some does allow a search of genres under the Audio description
category.  Once a title link is activated, there is an Add To my list or
Remove from my list option that appears as a link on the movie title's page.

Netflix 11.19 is the latest update so anyone not on that version may want to
update.
Make sure Audio Description is set to on in settings, and on your first Netflix
show with audio description; make sure you pause the show if you are not
hearing the description; double tap on audio settings; and then on your
language with audio description. From that point on; audio descriptions will
play automatically.
And, the best most up to date list of audio described shows is on the ACB web
site that both I and at least one other person have posted.

I suppose it's not a lot, but when I go to
http://www.acb.org/adp/netflixad.html

I see about 1,000 movies and series on Netflix with described video.

I called them about no longer having a separate category for audio
descriptive movies. I was told by the rep. that there were upgrades
and it is no longer set up that way. She tried explaining to me how to
tell if the movie I select has audio description but it didn’t make
sense to me. It sounded like you select the movie first and then you
will then need to do something else to find out if it has audio
description.

The easiest way to use the NetFlix app is to do a search for the show you
want to watch. This seems to be the only way to access and play the shows

RE: net flix whose watchimg screen, getting past it

2013-11-12 Thread Bill Holton
I have also found it's a good idea to create a home screen icon for the
Netflix web page, log in there, it's very easy to bypass this control there.
If you select a program it will automatically open the app and start the

I don't run into this nearly as much as I used to before the latest
update, but when I do run into it, I find the area of the screen I need
to tap, I turn VoiceOver off with a triple click of the home button, tap
that area of the screen and then turn VoiceOver back on with another
triple click of the home button. I have four profiles defined, so I just
need to know which quadrant of the screen I need to tap.

2013-11-11 Thread Christopher Chaltain
I don't run into this nearly as much as I used to before the latest
update, but when I do run into it, I find the area of the screen I need
to tap, I turn VoiceOver off with a triple click of the home button, tap
that area of the screen and then turn VoiceOver back on with another
triple click of the home button. I have four profiles defined, so I just
need to know which quadrant of the screen I need to tap.

I get past this?

Hi.
I can double tap and slide and reveal more of the recently played. But
when I try double tapping on any but the very first, I am placed way down

Thanks.

Hello,

I must respectfully disagree with the statement that NetFlix is horribly
inaccessible. Of course, I didn't update to the latest version. As for
recently
plaid, if you can get to that heading, you will have access to the first
three titles. Double tap and hold on one of these and flick up. This should
reveal
more of the list and you should be able to double tap on them. For the
slider that moves one to a different point in the movie: the lable is
Scrubber.
When you slide to the percentage you want, you must then double tap on it to
change your position in the movie. A very good podcast on the app was done
for AppleVis some time ago. If you go to the web site and search for
netflix, you should find it. It was very informative and made NetFlix
quite usable
for me.

You have to turn voiceover off, flick up on the screen so that it changes the

find another item that you want to use, I have had to go into search mode and
type in the names that I saw to bring it up.

HI,
I just wonder if they think it is not necessary for them to be responsive to an

Re: Net Flix App

2013-03-03 Thread Arianna
Holly, I didn't know about having to double tapping on the percentage after
you've changed it, so that your place in whatever you're watching will change.
Thanks for mentioning that. That was frustrating me beyond belief.

I also haven't updated to the latest version.

Thanks,
Ari

For the slider
that moves one to a different point in the movie: the lable is Scrubber.
When you slide to the percentage you want, you must then double tap on it to
change your position in the movie. A very good podcast on the app was done
for AppleVis some time ago. If you go to the web site and search for
netflix, you should find it. It was very informative and made NetFlix quite
 usable
 for me.

Re: Net Flix App

2013-03-02 Thread Brett
Hi,

In terms of accessibility, there is no change in the new update. Therefore you
are safe to update if you wish. I am running the latest version here.
