Well, the photos app is accessible, but it takes time to learn how to navigate
it.

If you are not used to computers or haven’t spent much time learning the ins
and outs, then it will take some patience to learn how to make it work for you.

There are four tabs along the bottom of the photos app.

>From left to right,

Library

For you

Albums

Search

If you select the Library tab, it will show you what’s in the photo library.

It tries to organize them for you, which is not intuitive.

I prefer to open the camera app, then find the Photo and Video viewer button
and open that.

This gives you a scrolling item of all your photos.

When you touch the take picture button, a single finger flick right should put
you on the Photo and Video Viewer button. Double Tap.

Along the bottom of the screen are tabs:

Share,

Favorite,

Info,

Edit,

Delete.

Those all refer to whatever photo is selected.

Just above that bottom row of buttons is the Photo Chooser.

It should say a number of a number, like 1 of 26.

If you are wanting to go to a previous photo, You flick down with one finger.

If you want to go to the next photo, you flick up with one finger.

You are scrolling the list.

You can then take action on whatever photo you have selected.

With that many photos, you have a lot of tedious work to do, but I know of no
other format that is more accessible.

Maybe someone else does.

The book, Capturing and Sharing the World, by Judy Dixon available from the
National Braille Press in the following formats:

Braille ($18.00)
DAISY Download ($18.00)
DAISY (on USB drive) ($20.50)
eBraille (download) ($18.00)
eBraille (on USB drive) ($20.50)
Word File (Download) ($18.00)
Word file (on USB drive) ($20.50)

Chapter 3 talks all about storing and organizing your photos. But the book is
full of details about the Camera app settings, accessibility, and techniques
for a blind person to take good photos.

The link to the National Braille Press page for the book is:

https://www.nbp.org/ic/nbp/PHOTOS.html

Re: Photos app in IOS14?

2020-11-24 Thread Malcolm Parfitt
Hello,

I have the camera set to While Using as you describe Richard.

I have tried every configuration I can think of but to no avail.

If I use EXIF Editor, Seeing AI and TapTapSee to browse photos I get the
information I would expect. But the Photos app is a complete disaster on my
iPhone XR. I’ve even set it up as a new iPhone rather than restoring from a
backup but still no luck.

 Hello,

Has anyone managed to make sense of the Photos app in IOS14?

No matter what settings I apply I am unable to identify what photo is what.
It used to give the date the photo was taken so you had an idea what was
 what.

RE: Photos app in IOS14?

2020-11-23 Thread Richard Turner
Have you checked your privacy settings for the Camera?
Go to Privacy, Location Services, and if it is on, double tap anyway and you
will be in the list of apps that have requested your location.
If the Camera app is set to never, I think that could be the cause.
I have mine set to while using.

If that doesn't help, then as Wayne said, time to call Apple Accessibility.

Hmm. It might be time to call Apple Accessibility: 877-204-3930. They will work
with you to find the answer. They can even connect to your phone remotely and
see what you are experiencing. They are open 24/7, so you've got nothing to
lose.

Good luck,
Wayne

Re: Photos app in IOS14?

2020-11-23 Thread Malcolm Parfitt
Hello Debby and Wayne,

Thanks for your help with the Photos app.

Still no luck here with my iPhone XR.

If I turn Describe Images off in the Rotor I get the word image and no more
information.

If Describe Images is on I get the word image followed by a description of the
photo in focus as you would expect.

If I swipe through the photo list I get things like Messages Notes Contacts
spoken as if I was on page 1 of my device.

Nothing I do makes the Photos app usable.

I have even put the iPhone in Recovery Mode and downloaded a fresh copy of
IOS14 but still no luck.

Re: Photos app in IOS14?

2020-11-23 Thread Wayne Merritt
Malcolm,
Try using the rotor actions when on a photo in Photos. I think you
will find some of the same information that was spoken before. I don't
recall if it is rotor actions or the new "more content" item, but one
of those will speak more info when swiping up or down through. Good
luck.

RE: Photos app in IOS14?

2020-11-23 Thread Debby
Hi Malcolm,

I updated to iOS 14.2 a bit ago, but I hadn't looked at the photos app until
your email. I don't know what is happening for you, but my photos do have the
dates on them. The new descriptions are pretty good. I am looking at my photos
using the library tab in the app. I looked at the photos app in settings, and I
didn't see anything that would seem to make a difference. I am using an iPhone
SE 2020.

Good Luck! Take care and be safe!

Hello,

Has anyone managed to make sense of the Photos app in IOS14?

No matter what settings I apply I am unable to identify what photo is what. It
used to give the date the photo was taken so you had an idea what was what.

Anyone know of a way to fix this situation, to get Seeing AI back on the share

Thanks for any thoughts.

storage and it shows that I have 5 photos using 23 megs in photo

any of the tabs. I have taken photos, but I deleted those. I don't have
iCloud backup turned on since that was all disabled when I did the
incripted backup through iTunes. Any idea where to find these phots so I
can free up a little space? I'm not hurting for space, but every little

Re: Photos no difference.

2016-09-15 Thread Jim Fettgather
I have found this photo description to be kind of hit and miss. When
I scroll through my photo library, I am always told of the existence
of faces, and occasionally objects, one identified a pack of
cigarettes, I have no idea where that came from!
However, no pictures of contacts have identified as of yet.
I'll try taking some additional photos to see if that makes a difference.

RE: Photos Icon, Gone

2015-12-09 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
No, Photos is a stock app and can’t be deleted. Since he can find it via
Spotlight search that simply means he has so far missed it. You might want to
remind him to check folders for second pages. I believe each page in a folder
displays 6 apps, if he has a folder which says “7 items” after the name this
means the folder has a second page. You would switch to that second page the
same way as you switch home pages, open the folder, then do a 3-finger swipe
from right to left. I always take note of how many items Voiceover says are in
a folder and that way I know how many apps I should find in there.

Searie will open photos, and he can find it via spotlight search. But the icon
is gone. He has done some icon rearranging, and thought it simply had been
moved from where it was. But he says he has searched all three of his home
screens, and also has looked in the folders that are on these screens, and
simply can not find this icon. Can an icon disappear like this, and if so, how
would he get it back? Thanks for any information.

RE: photos on iphone.

2015-05-13 Thread Vincent Thacker
Hi, Christopher,

You don't say what version of Windows you have, but I can say that this isn't
usually a big problem in Windows 8.1, at least in my setup.

I plug my phone into a USB port, then press Windows key plus E to start file
explorer, and there are all my libraries of stuff such as documents and
pictures, plus all the drives further down the screen. One of the drives is
called Vince's iPhone. If I press Enter on that, it shows a folder on the
iphone called DCIM, I press Enter on that and get a folder with a number, and
when I press Enter on that, I can get at the contents, photos or whatever. I
usually select them all with Control plus A, then copy with Control plus C, Cut
with Control plus X, navigate to a folder on the PC where I want to transfer
the material, and press Control V to paste everything.

Pretty much the same as moving files around the PC,, in fact.

Hope that's some help.

Vince.

It would appear that with iOS 7, we can now label our photos and have them
stick.
I have labeled several photos and closed the photo app and gone back and the
labels are still there, and still unique to each photo.

This is a very good thing.

Re: photos and VoiceOver

2013-09-23 Thread Richard Turner
It is the same gesture for custom labels, a two-finger double-tap and hold.
Wait for the tones, and then an edit box will be there for you to either add to
a label, or delete what is there and write your new label. then there is a save
button.

RE: photos and VoiceOver

2013-09-21 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Richard,

If I used the custom label feature in iOS 6 to label photos I never had an
issue with the labels not sticking except if I moved a picture. For example,
if I labeled a picture in the camera roll and then moved it to an album the
label was lost. Haven't tried this yet in iOS 7.
