Terrianne,

1. Open the BARD Mobile app.

2. Double tap the bookshelf button in the bottom left corner.

3. Double tap the category of bookshelf content you want to manage as to
audiobooks, audio magazines, etc.

4. Double tap the edit button in the upper right corner of the screen
containing your list of items.

5. Place focus on the book you want to delete and single finger swipe down
until you hear delete. Double tap and the book will be deleted.

6. Repeat for as many items as you want to delete and then double tap the
Done button in the upper right corner to end the process.

Subject: Bard Mobile app question

Hi,

I’m trying to get reacquainted with Bard Mobile.

Last week, I went in and successfully added a book to my Wish List and then
downloaded it and played it without problem.

Yesterday and today I have gone in to try to find another book. When I click on
Get Books tab, I then go to theGo to Bard site, but after I double tap on this,
I get nothing more than an In Progress indication that eventually times out.

I’m properly signed in, at least as indicated by the account information listed
under Settings tab.

Is there something up with the site, or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for any help, Keith

Last week, I went in and successfully added a book to my Wish List and then
downloaded it and played it without problem.

Yesterday and today I have gone in to try to find another book. When I click
on Get Books tab, I then go to theGo to Bard site, but after I double tap on
this, I get nothing more than an In Progress indication that eventually times
out.

I’m properly signed in, at least as indicated by the account information
listed under Settings tab.

Is there something up with the site, or am I doing something wrong?

  Thanks for any help, Keith

RE: Bard Mobile app question

2017-03-07 Thread Jeffrey Turner
The Bard website is experiencing system problems, so the Bard Express program
won’t work until they are fixed.

This afternoon’s update said they expect it to be back online Wednesday
afternoon, but Monday they said it would be today, so we’ll just have to wait
and see.

Interesting, I had several books I had transferred to my ipod before the
shutdown and never had played them. They did play during the shutdown.
It's my understanding the key is downloaded as part of the download process.

Hi Russ. I think it is activated the first time you open it after it is
downloaded. When we had the government shut down, I had two books which I
had put on my IPhone but not opened when I tried to read them when the web
site was down, I got a book not authorized message. When they brought the

Re: BARD Mobile app question

2013-11-01 Thread Christopher Chaltain
Did you have cellular access? Several people reported that during the
shutdown they could only play books they had either downloaded through
BARD Mobile or had started before the shutdown. they got authorization
errors whenever they tried to play a book they had transferred via
iTunes. You could also try the same experiment by turning on air plane
mode. It could also be that just by opening up BARD Mobile after the
transfer, the authorizations were verified, especially since you said
you got the download complete message just by opening up the BARD Mobile

I had no trouble with the BARD books on my phone even during the shutdown,
they all four opened, I could play them and two had never been opened

Hi Russ. I think it is activated the first time you open it after it is
downloaded. When we had the government shut down, I had two books which I
had put on my IPhone but not opened when I tried to read them when the web
site was down, I got a book not authorized message. When they brought the
site back up I was able to open them but had to redownload them to make it
work.

My understanding is that a book needs to be activated the first time you
open it. As long as you have already opened the book once, and it was
activated that first time, you should be fine. I could be wrong, and I have
not been following this thread closely so I may be repeating someone else's

Thanks for that information. Maybe I just got a couple of bad downloads
since I had to download them a second time after the site was working again.
I really couldn't see what would be the point of delaying validation till
you actually opened the book. After all that should happen before allowing
the user to make use of the download resources.

Hello Susan,
Simply, no, you will not be restricted because of the player you are
currently using.
You will have access to all navigation levels within any book you play
through the app.

Hope this helps.

Thank you to everyone for your responses. I understand that the ease of
navigation is dependent on the Daisy markup levels built into the recording.
However, my question is really about whether or not the functionality of the
navigation is keyed to a user's account. In other words, since in my case
with my current authorized player I cannot jump directly to level 2
navigation, am I likely to encounter the same restrictions on the phone app?
In this case, my options would seem to be either exchanging my player for an
advanced one if possible or, alternatively, using Read to Go or a similar
app to read this kind of book, in which case the same questions exist. It
sounds as though the BARD Mobile app works well for continuous reading
situations, but perhaps less well for student/reference situations when a
user, for example, wants to quickly access a recipe or Bible verse. Again,
any thoughts/clarifications are appreciated.

Yes. The bard mobile app has the same functions as the advanced player.
Above the play button will be a button that may say something like front
matter that when you double tap on it, depending on the levels available in
a given book, will toggle between all available levels. On either side of
that button are buttons labeled previous and next, so you can then jump by
whatever level you set.

I have a question for BARD Mobile app users regarding the navigational

To be clearer, I’m one of those majority of BARD users with the beginner

seldom care about advanced navigation levels except in cookbooks, where
it is obviously more difficult to access recipes without an advanced
player. I am new to idevices and have just purchased an Ipod Touch. Like
many U.S. readers, I expect to use the BARD app extensively. When
downloading cookbooks, I’m wondering whether it might be possible to
enjoy level 2 navigation even though it is not available on my player.
Can anyone answer this factually? I’m not trying to start a debate on
what should be possible, but what others’ experiences are re this
question and what anyone can actually verify. Hope the question makes
sense.

This seemed strange to me too, but I'm guessing they're guarding against
the situation where someone could download the BARD Mobile app and then
get some books from someone or some source other than BARD and then play
them without ever being BARD patrons. It seems a bit much to me but
maybe they're throwing a bone to the publishers to ensure them that BARD
books won't survive in the wild.

My understanding is that a book needs to be activated the first time you
open it. As long as you have already opened the book once, and it was
activated that first time, you should be fine. I could be wrong, and I have
not been following this thread closely so I may be repeating someone else’s
comments, but there you go in any case.

Re: BARD Mobile app question

2013-10-30 Thread Marianne Denning
No, it is not tied to your account. It is a feature on the devices
you have. My NLS player is not the advanced player and I have
multiple ways to access NLS BARD books. The navigation capability
depends on the player and the NLS BARD app has good navigation
capabilities.

On 10/29/13, susan susan.wojte...@gmail.com wrote:

with my current authorized player I cannot jump directly to level 2
navigation, am I likely to encounter the same restrictions on the phone app?

Re: BARD Mobile app question

2013-10-30 Thread Alan Paganelli
No. your home player has nothing at all to do with the Bard app. Most
people want the full featured Talking Book player. They made the bard app
full featured. You don't have to use all the features if you don't wish to.
hope this helps. Also, the bard app is free so worst case is you wind up
deleting it. If that happens, you may be the first person in history then
to do that! grin

I would like to see them add a sync feature in a future update. I have both
my iPhone 4 and my iPhone 5s. It would be nice to be able to sync books and
better, your place in a book.

Re: BARD Mobile app question

The app will allow you to have different navigation levels based on
the levels created when the book was produced. I find that books that
are converted from tape to digital have little to no navigation
levels. Books that have been produced by NLS recently have several
navigation levels, depending on the type of book.

Hi listers,

To be clearer, I'm one of those majority of BARD users with the beginner level
NLS player and no

Re: BARD Mobile app question

2013-10-29 Thread Christopher Chaltain
Yes, assuming the BARD Mobile app has already had the chance to check
with the authorization server. This id done when you download the book
through the BARD Mobile app. If you transfer a book to your phone with
iTunes, DropBox or some other means, then you have to have an internet
connection when you start listening to the book. this is when it'll
check with the authorization server.

Re: BARD Mobile app question

2013-10-29 Thread susan

Susan, if a book has markup in it, that markup is available as long as the
book is played on a device capable of navigating that markup such as an
advanced NLS player, one of the portable players such as the Victor Reader
Stream, or on an iDevice running the BARD Mobile app. The markup is not tied
to a user's account.

Re: BARD Mobile app question

2013-10-29 Thread Chris Chaffin

Hello Susan,
Simply, no, you will not be restricted because of the player you are
currently using.
You will have access to all navigation levels within any book you play
through the app.

Hope this helps.

Subject: Re: BARD Mobile app question

   Hi listers,
I have a question for BARD Mobile app users regarding the navigational
and access levels supported in the BARD app.

To be clearer, I’m one of those majority of BARD users with the beginner
level NLS player and no other reading device. For my reading needs I
seldom care about advanced navigation levels except in cookbooks, where
it is obviously more difficult to access recipes without an advanced
Hope the question makes
sense.

My understanding is that a book needs to be activated the first time you open
it. As long as you have already opened the book once, and it was activated that
first time, you should be fine. I could be wrong, and I have not been following
this thread closely so I may be repeating someone else’s comments, but there
you go in any case.

And just for those books converted to digital from cassette which have
little navigation, I use bookmarks to help keep track of where I am in a
book, or mark places that I might want to come back too in the future.

The app will allow you to have different navigation levels based on
the levels created when the book was produced. I find that books that
are converted from tape to digital have little to no navigation
levels. Books that have been produced by NLS recently have several
navigation levels, depending on the type of book.
