The iPhone has a built in GPS receiver. Your iPhone 5 with 32 GB storage is
what I have, and should be just fine.

Subject: Basic Questions on Navigon

Perhaps there is an URL with the information I'm looking for, but I still
want to be certain that I have answers to the following questions:

1) Does this app require an independent GPS receiver?

2) If so, is there a list of compatible such devices?

3) Can a user manual and/or user guide be found online?

4) If so, where?

5) What is the nature of technical support?

6) Is there additional cost for technical support if such exists?

7) Will this app function efficiently on an iPhone 5 with 32 Mb memory?

Thanks

Re: Basic Questions on Navigon

2013-01-17 Thread David Chittenden
It works primarily by receiving GPS satellite data. It uses cellular tower
triangulation as supplemental to enhance location information. The iPhone
performs these calculations and then presents the GPS coordinates to the GPS
location app which is being utilised. It must be noted that cellular tower
triangulation is not very accurate. Neither, for that matter, is GPS satellite
triangulation unless several satellite signals are received.

I also think it uses a bit of wifi triangulation as well. When you turn
off wifi, you'll see that you get a message about location data may not
be as accurate.
