Sounds like a Reach Around to me. All this just to perform a Restart or Reboot on Apple's iOS. At 06:27 AM 11/5/2019, you wrote: When I had my 7, I would hold down home and side button for about 13 seconds. This worked for me even though the home button is a solid state home button. Gordan, Have you done that with an iPhone 7? That is the steps for an iPhone 8 and later. Kelby, Have you talked with Apple about this? Do you have Sounds set to change with buttons? I don't have access to an iPhone 7 to test. For most purposes, a power off and power on will accomplish what you need. I'm not exactly sure what a reboot does that a shut down and restart doesn't. Re: Can't Reboot iPhone
I've read where that will call emergency services if held down for a few seconds without release. the way I've always done a reboot is to press volume down and release it quickly, then press volume up and release quickly. then hold down the side button for about 13 seconds or so. Of course, there is no VoiceOver feedback so try holding for a count of 5 or 6 seconds, i.e. one 1000, 2 1000, etc. Then waiting for a minute or two for the restart. I know how to reboot the phone. Before, however, holding down the volume button did not decrease VoiceOver's volume; it had to be pressed repeatedly to do that. If I reboot the phone, my volume will be all the way down, so I will not know when it is restarted. > On Nov 5, 2019, at 8:38 AM, Richard Turner > wrote: > > According to CNet, you are right, but maybe you are holding them down too > long? > This is what I found: > You now need to hold the wake and volume down buttons at the same time. Re: Can't Reboot iPhone
Hi Kelby, I'm assuming you're using an iPhone 8 or later. You can bring up the screen where you turn off the phone by tapping and releasing Volume Up, then tapping and releasing Volume Down, then holding the side button for a few seconds. If you do these same gestures but hold the side button for 10 seconds, the phone resets.
