Re: Downloading music from iTunes supposedly being discontinued in 2019

2018-04-12 Thread Mary Otten
Kelly, what sort of restrictions are you referring to with regards to
purchasing music on iTunes. You certainly don’t have to. But I am unaware of
any restrictions involved with purchased music. They haven’t had DRM on that
for years.

with the fact that with iTunes, you pay for each download individually,
whereas with Apple Music, you pay a monthly charge for whatever downloads
you purchase during that month altogether rather than doing individual

above-mentioned fact could be the reason. I know that I don’t use iTunes

2018-04-12 Thread Kelly Pierce
The discontinuation is speculation for now. At some point the theory
goes that Apple will only offer streaming and end iTunes sales. I have
never bought music from iTunes. I don’t like the restrictions. Also,
when I tried it a couple of years ago, there was limited selection of
classic jazz albums with only the big names being available. I rip
CD’s and transfer the audio files onto my iPhone. This functionality
will continue to the foreseeable future. I can share individual
tracks with another iPhone user through Airdrop.

2018-04-12 Thread Brian Hansen
Even though I subscribe to Apple Music, there have been a few cases where I
still had to purchase the albums through iTunes, because the album/albums were
not available for streaming. I guess the artist/record labels can specify how
Apple can make it available to their customer base. If they do away with
purchases, then they will need to make all of their music catalog available.

Re: Downloading music from iTunes supposedly being discontinued in 2019

2018-04-12 Thread Kathy Brandt
You’re talking about what you purchase being covered for the month: I didn’t
think that with Apple Music you purchase anything, but you were just streaming,
and all that is covered for the month. If they do stop downloads, I guess
they’re thinking, that you could create a playlist if you just want individual
songs, but if you should want to burn some songs onto a CD, or, share an
individual song with someone like are you like to do sometimes, I don’t see how
you could if they discontinue being able to download.

Re: Downloading music from iTunes supposedly being discontinued in 2019

2018-04-12 Thread Kathy Brandt
On the radio station I was listening to they did not cite the source, so on the
Internet there were a few articles, including from the daily mail. Mac world
also had an article about it.

The reason is, that Apple wants to promote Apple Music so that it can catch up
with Spotify.

Re: Downloading music from iTunes supposedly being discontinued in 2019

2018-04-12 Thread Esther Levegnale
Hi, Kathy!

Wow! That’s too bad because so many people such as I download music from
iTunes. However, I’ve been using Apple Music for quite some time and really
enjoy it. Perhaps this discontinuation might have something to do with the
fact that with iTunes, you pay for each download individually, whereas with
Apple Music, you pay a monthly charge for whatever downloads you purchase
during that month altogether rather than doing individual purchases. I hope
I’m not as clear as mud on this issue, but the above-mentioned fact could be
the reason. I know that I don’t use iTunes as regularly as I had in the past
before I acquired Apple Music.

Thanks.

Subject: Downloading music from iTunes supposedly being discontinued in 2019

Heard this today as part of a business report. This is like Verizon firing the
copper wire repair people so that they can tell people they have to go on to
fios. At least the one article I read subsequently said that you would still
have access to Music you already bought..
