The discontinuation is speculation for now. At some point the theory goes that Apple will only offer streaming and end iTunes sales. I have never bought music from iTunes. I don’t like the restrictions. Also, when I tried it a couple of years ago, there was limited selection of classic jazz albums with only the big names being available. I rip CD’s and transfer the audio files onto my iPhone. This functionality will continue to the foreseeable future. I can share individual tracks with another iPhone user through Airdrop.
