RE: E-mail to Apple Accessibility

2013-09-11 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Chris,

OK to a point. "You guys" is not a very professional way of addressing Apple
( no offense). Also, I think it is extremely unreasonable to expect Apple to
discount their regular apps by their 30% take. Why would you expect to pay
30% less and basically ask Apple to not make any money on an accessible app
just because you are blind? I thought we all want equal treatment? It is
furthermore even more unreasonable to expect to penalize developers if their
apps are not accessible. There are a great number of apps which can't be
made accessible due to the nature of the app and while it is awesome if
developers make their apps accessible, they should not and can't be made to
do so or else.

Regards,
Sieghard

Hello Apple Accessibility.
I am writing to express concerns regarding your app store and the lack of a
policy for app refunds due to inaccessibility.
While I have not experienced concerns myself, I have heard of people on
groups like Viphone and Macvisionaries being very concerned regarding apps
they have purchased, which turned out to be inaccessible, to then be refused
point blank for a refund due to the app being inaccessible.
I would like to see policies such as a discount of the 30% for apps that are
deemed accessible, a penalty fee of at least 35% for apps that are
inaccessible, and maybe even pointers in the app descriptions regarding
accessibility.
If one or more policies are in place, and please do come up with your own if
you wish, at least we will know before purchase whether an app is deemed
accessible or not. Remember, you guys were the first to innovate
accessibility to complete touch screen devices, and we as the blind
community really appreciate your hard work. Let this be spread to places
like the app store as well.
Thank you very much for reading. Any responses will be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards.

Hope this e-mail is ok.

You have given Apple the perfect loophole to disregard your letter:

"While I have not experienced concerns myself..."

They may write back with sympathetic sentiments, they will not act based on
this approach.
