David,

Correct. But I am seeing more and more devices requiring micro
USB. Freedom Scientific has replaced their devices from USB to
micro USB.

Re: Parallels Access

2014-06-18 Thread todd patkus

David,

Yes, I understand that.

When I read parallels access, it sounded much like it being
plugged into a device to access. That is how I got the meaning
from the context.

The company should have used a different wording, such as
simultaneous access to reflect their tech.

Re: Parallels Access

2014-06-18 Thread David Chittenden
The name of the app is parallels. The parallel communications protocol has not
been in use for quite some time now, so the vast majority of people would not
be confused by the name. This is especially true with the s on the end of the
word. An s was never used at the end of the word parallel when discussing the
communications protocol.

Re: Parallels Access

David,

Neither have I seen any parallels on any devices anymore. Only
serial still exists. USB became standard, along with the new
micro USB. But in time, they will become obsolete.

Chris, you should know this fact.

RE: Parallels Access

2014-06-17 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Todd,

Parallels Access is a company which offers a remote access solution that
allows users to connect to a laptop or desktop via their iPhone, iPad or
Android mobile device and run applications which are on the computer on
their mobile device. It has nothing to do with a parallel port which stated
correctly is no longer used on most modern computers or printers. Here a few
excerpts from the Parallels Access website:

Leave the laptop behind when you are on the move. Or on the couch.
Our unique applification technology lets you use all of your desktop
applications as if they were native apps for your iPhone, iPad, or Android
device.

There are many such remote access solutions out there including LogMeIn,
GoToMyPC and others, most of them are not accessible with screenreading
technology or braille since they project an image of the computer's screen
to your mobile device.

Sieghard

Re: Parallels Access

2014-06-17 Thread David Chittenden
By the way, USB and Micro USB are the same. USB is now on version 3. Micro USB
is a specific port connector for USB, and has been around for several years. It
is slowly replacing mini USB.

 David,

Neither have I seen any parallels on any devices anymore. Only serial still
exists. USB became standard, along with the new micro USB. But in time,
 they will become obsolete.

Chris, you should know this fact.
