Re: Questions using a braille display

2018-10-26 Thread Scott Davert
Hi Don.
You can find an official generic list of commands on Apple's website:
http://wild.link/apple/AIL1Bg
For whatever reason, Apple did not map the wizwheels to any commands.
With iOS 12, though, you may be able to map your own if you want. I'm
not sure, since I no longer have access to the first Focus 40. You may
also find the below link of value. You can skip past the pairing steps
obviously, but may find some of the other info helpful.
https://applevis.com/guides/idevice-primer-109-braille
You will also find links to other resources in this guide. I created
it several years back, but keep it updated.

Hope this helps,
Scott

“chord” is a term used in this case to mean that you press the spacebar along
with the other keys indicated. So, space with dots 1 and 3. The term “chord” is
from the old Braille Lite days.

I have successfully paired my Focus 40 blue classic, (the one with the whiz
wheels) with my iPhone 6 which is running IOS 12.0.1. I have had this Focus for
several years but have done almost nothing with it. Now I want to get serious
and use it for braille input and output with my iPhone. I would appreciate some
pointers regarding things like moving from one text message to the next text
message. Also, I can't figure out how to move from one 40-cell line to the
next; and, if a line exceeds 40 characters in length, what do I do to advance
to the next group of 40 characters?

Thanks in advance for any pointers to get me started.

A chord means you press the dots as indicated while at the same time depressing
