RE: The Envision Eli app; question on Voice Over accessibility

2017-04-07 Thread Mike Ulrich
Hi again Chip,

Never mind my last reply to this thread, I’m just now reading your reply.

Too bad this Eli app isn’t accessible with Voice Over, but ain’t that the way
it usually goes for the blind?

So what’s the call, is this app accessible or not?

I thought I had heard on one of these blind IPhone lists, that the Eli app was
indeed accessible and worked very well.

So I downloaded the Eli app and purchased a set of labels. But once the labels
finally came in, I fired up the app only to find it totally not accessible in
voice over.

Can anyone help me with this? Perhaps I’m just doing something wrong?

I might try to find a sightling and turn off voice over and see if they can
operate the app and if it works well out of voice over. If that’s the case,
I’ll get on the app developer and tell him to get their Sh*t straight!

RE: The Envision Eli app; question on Voice Over accessibility

2017-04-07 Thread Mike Ulrich
Hi Chip,

I don’t understand it, when I pull up the Eli app, there are no buttons or
anything on the screen, as I’m using the app in voice over?

What buttons or other things do you find on the app when you’re using it in
voice over?

Thanks!..Mike

Hi Mike,

Why didn’t you stick with Digit-Eyes, it’s not free, but it works and you can
order labels or make/use your own, they even have waterproof ones which can go
in the washing machine for labelling clothing.

I had a look at the Invision ELI app on the app store, here is what the one
review that was listed says:

Poorly designed app barely usable 1 Star

 by TallyChip

Do you think the company selling products to the visually impaired could do
better than this with their app design, which offers no feedback at all via
voice over as to how to use it or control it.

RE: The Envision Eli app; question on Voice Over accessibility

2017-04-06 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
You probably could use the labels you already bought for Digit Eyes.

Thanks Sieghard, I guess I just fell for typical BS on various blind Iphone
list serves. Plus a good blind buddy that teaches blind tech stuff at the
Collier County Lighthouse told me Eli rocks. But perhaps it’s his sighted gal
pal helping him along?

Thanks for straightening me out!
I’ll look into Digit Eyes.

Regards,
Sieghard
