Let's not confuse Apple and Oranges.

Image PDF documents do require Voice Dream Reader.

But images, such as photographs that contain text can be imported directly into 
Scanner 1.01 whether you have VDR or not.

Then you can save that recognized file anywhere you like.

The only image files that require VDR are the PDF files; otherwise if it is in 
the photo library, Scanner can handle it just fine.

I'm going to answer several questions in this one response.
I recorded the demo on my iPhone using the Voice Memos app and a Zoom IQ 6 
stereo microphone.

As of today, the Scanner app will allow you to import images from your photo 
library. He did version 1.0.1 today.
You do not need Voice Dream Reader to use the scanner app. It can function 
completely on its own.
Carl, if you are talking about Douglas Adams, he's dead, so he won't be 
smacking you down, grin.
Without giving anything away; the solution to ultimate question of life, the 
universe, and everything was 42, but that was not the answer to the math 
problem Arthur Dent and Ford Prefect discovered when playing Scrabble with the 
Neanderthal man ...
